I love Harry Potter, like really love Harry Potter. It’s a bit of an obsession and one which I am, quite rightly, proud of. Thankfully I’m lucky enough to have a job that allows me to embrace this and as a result I am constantly reminded of what a truly special series of books J. K. Rowling has given us. Sterling work, fellow Jo.
I have wanted to visit the Warner Bros. Studio Tour since it opened but being a couple of hours drive away and, since I don’t own a Nimbus 2000, I’ve had to wait. My patience was rewarded recently when it was announced that, over Christmas, the studio tour would be decked out to reflect the seasonal festivities – delightfully dubbed ‘Hogwarts in the Snow’. I decided that this was to be my time and booked tickets – and boy am I glad that I did.
Walking into the Great Hall at the start of the tour was honestly quite breathtaking and made even more magical by the Christmas decorations and props. I got so overexcited that I actually had to be told to calm down. There is just so much to look at! I thought it was all wonderful and seeing the costumes, props and sets was just so interesting and fun. They even let you have a go at riding a broom – I wasn’t a natural.
As much as I enjoyed the first half of the tour, it was the second which truly blew me away. Butterbeer, Privet Drive and a stroll up Diagon Alley! It doesn’t get any better than that. The amount of detail that has gone into everything is staggering and I love that you are given as much time as you need to stop and take everything in.
The tour was also a great opportunity for me to embrace my inner Slytherin. Sorry Mum, I know you always hopped I’d be in Ravenclaw but with my long blonde Malfoy locks and my love of Snape, it was only ever going to be the dark side for me. I could have happily spent as long in the shop as I did on the tour.
For the occasion I cracked out my new favourite Christmas dress from ASOS. It has a lovely reindeer print on it and is currently on sale! I teamed it with woolly M&S tights, M&S brogues, a Tatty Devine necklace and, of course, Harry Potter earrings.
