Hello one and all and welcome back to your weekly (ahem) roundup of the dresses we have deemed worthy of the highly coveted Double Thumbs seal of approval. You might have noticed that we skipped a week last week so, by way of an apology, I have made this one slightly longer. I know, I really do spoil you.
Right, so, this is a little unprecedented but first up we have FOUR dresses from the rather brilliant, People Tree. The first three form part of their ongoing collaboration with Orla Kiely, who I know we have been relentlessly banging on about recently but I can’t help it if she keeps bringing the pretty to the party. This new collaboration features three dancing girl silhouette prints and they are all so SO great. I really couldn’t choose just one so I’ve had to go with three but I could easily have chosen more. Yikes. And just when I thought I was safe I spied the balloon print dress and practically combusted at my computer. What the heck, People Tree? Are you deliberately trying to bankrupt me?
Oh good, more reasons to spend all my money! The new Poppy collection landed this week and as usual it’s perfect. This time they have embraced bright bold colours as their characters, Poppy and Fred, take Mr Giraffe to the seaside. I don’t know what party balloons have got to do with giraffes at the seaside but if the result is always this pretty, I’m on board. No, I’m not drunk. Continue reading Double Thumbs Dresses #29→
You will probably not be surprised to discover that our favourite show at this year’s London Fashion Week was the Orla Kiely Autumn Winter presentation, held at the imposing yet impressive Central Saint Martins Building.
I’ve been wanting to write a new outfit post for a while but, as you might have noticed, the weather has not been favourable to bloggers (or anyone for that matter) of late! Thankfully, the sun made a brief appearance last week and so I grabbed my camera and headed out to the lovely city of Wells for a mooch around their market and to take a hasty snap or two of some new bits that I have been coveting.
Eugh, look at those clouds! I told you it was a brief appearance!
Morning! We’ve finally hit day two of our time at London Fashion Week. It seems crazy that this was over a week ago now! How time has flown. As you can see, the weather had improved somewhat for our second day of fashion fun, even allowing for some outside photo ops!
We had another bright and early start in order to attend the Orla Kiely showcase at Central Saint Martins. We were so incredibly excited to attend the show and it completely lived up to our expectations. We’ll be blogging about the showcase later this week but, in the meantime, how cute are the personalised coffee cups they were handing out?
Whilst we were in London for Fashion Week (have we mentioned we went to London Fashion Week? Sorry!) we received an invitation to the launch party of CrossEyes, a new opticians. We’ve blogged before about our passion for eyewear, as both of us require spectacles, so it seemed churlish to pass up on the opportunity. We made a somewhat heroic dash across London to Clerkenwell, negotiating rush hour tubes, serious wind, rain and heels we had been in since 7:30am but we knew we had made the right call when we were warmly welcomed with a glass of bubbly.
One of the most fun shows we attended whilst at London Fashion Week was that of Hungarian designer, Napsugar Von Bittera. We had a sneaking suspicion that we were in for a treat when we read that Napsugar had been selected by Dolce and Gabbana for their Spiga 2 store but boy were we right!
Whilst at London Fashion Week, we were lucky enough to attend a few of the shows! This was a new experience for us but we very quickly got swept up in the atmosphere and just loved every minute of it.
Thai-British designer, Ong-Oaj Pairam was one of the shows we attended at Freemasons Hall as part of Fashion Scout. Despite not being familiar with his work, we soon fell in love with his his signature prints, soft feminine tailoring and especially his use of metallic heels with beehive hair! Yum!
Last month we received possibly the most exciting email of all time when we were invited by Orla Kiely to take part in a street style initiative with them for London Fashion Week. After much squealing, high-fiving and just the tiniest flicker of unbearable smugness (sorry friends and family) we began to plan, panic and pack. You see, we hadn’t even attended London Fashion Week before so to be going with our favourite designer was just beyond a ridiculous privilege.
We will be posting a series of special London Fashion Week posts, featuring the shows we attended (including the beautiful Orla Kiely show) and what we wore, over the next week but first we wanted to talk about our street style experience. And what an experience it was!
Merry Friday, happy Valentine’s Day and a glorious London Fashion Week to one and all! And if that wasn’t excitement enough it’s also DT time! Woohoo! So without further ado, here is this week’s roundup of dresses deemed worthy of the highly coveted She and Hem Double Thumbs seal of approval. Snazzy.
Break out your sundae best, this heart meltingly beautiful dress is part of Emily & Fin’s Spring/Summer collection. It’s actually a bit of a naughty Double Thumbs entry as it won’t be out until the first week of April. BUT I JUST CAN’T WAIT THAT LONG. At least we’ll all have plenty of time to save up, eh? The print comes in a choice of two styles which I’m assured will both be available from Aspire Style. Don’t worry, I’ll remind you when the time comes. In the meantime, just feast your eyes.
Another week, another brilliant dress from Sugarill Boutique. I just love all of their prints and these cute little ducks are no exception. It’s also nice to see a tulip shape as I can’t say I own much in this style. I wasn’t sure about the black lace side panels at first but I’ve decided now that I love them. Also: great sleeve.
I’m becoming a big fan of Almari (available from John Lewis). They have some really interesting prints and shapes going on. I love the wintery floral pattern on this one and, as I own an Almari dress in this shape, I can vouch for how awesome the full skirt is.
Love is in the air today at She and Hem HQ, so as a Valentine’s gift to you, here are the accessories that have got me feeling smitten. If I had these accessories in my life, every day would be Valentine’s Day! Apologies that it’s only a brief round up today, everything has gone a little London Fashion Week crazy over here! I assure you, full service will be resumed next time.
