If you read this ol’ blog of ours with any degree of regularity, you will already be familiar with our love of London based brand, Emily and Fin (who now have their very own online shop!). Never ones to shy away from a novelty print, we have long been fans of their original designs and tendency to create drop dead gorgeous dresses. We were therefore rather delighted to be offered the chance to try out a couple of pieces from their stunning A/W collection which features, among others, deers (!), figure skaters (!), envelopes (!) and our chosen prints of skiers (!) and an ENTIRE tea party (!).
As, regrettably, the limited non-existent She and Hem budget meant we couldn’t jet off to the French Alps for a full blown ski themed post, we settled for the next best thing and jetted off down the road instead for a tea party at the beautiful Cox and Baloney. This lovely Bristol based vintage boutique and tearooms (and Emily and Fin stockist no less) has created an entire vintage tea party wonderland in their private ‘snug’ downstairs. We were in prop heaven!
Seriously, we would happily move in! And just look at those dress prints! Victoria’s Grey Tea Time* dress features the most stunning selection of designs including toast, whisks, egg cups, tea canisters, cafetieres, dinner plates, a cuddly toy. You get the idea. She decided to let the print do the talking and went for bold red lips and nails over accessories and added some ladylike gold heels from Office to complete her look. I also decided to embrace a pop of red in order to compliment my delightfully retro Blue Skiers* print and added a red belt New Look and Orla Kiely for Clarks wedges. I’ve really been embracing white tights recently and felt they were the perfect way to finish this outfit off.
As well as their inevitably wonderful prints, Emily and Fin dresses are usually available in at least a couple of their signature flattering shapes. We have previously always been Lucy girls, a shorter a-line style of dress with a full skirt, but both decided that a change was as good as a dress and plumped for the Sophie (we look forward to the Jo and Victoria styles, obvs). The Sophie is a semi-fitted style with a wide cru neckline and adorable batwing sleeves. We are both duly converted and love this shape! It’s also worth mentioning that both the Lucy and the Sophie have hidden pockets which is always a She and Hem deal-breaker.

Many thanks to Emily and Fin for this wonderful treat, to Cox and Baloney for allowing us free reign in their snug and to our lovely friend Ailsa for giving up her Saturday morning to help us with the photos!
