Pregnancy Beauty Survival Kit

Pregnancy Beauty Survival Kit

There are an abundance of products on the market for mums to be which claim to sooth all kinds of pregnancy woes. Although we are definitely not beauty experts, we thought it would be fun to give a few products a try in the hopes of a little bit of rejuvenation and nourishment. Which is very much needed, as being heavily pregnant can be quite tiring. Who knew!

Our favourites were from Natural Spa Factory from our fancy neighbour, Bath. Firstly, we tried the Organic Facial Mask with bergamot and rose petals, which helps to “calm, uplift and replenish the skin”. Then, it was the turn of the Boutique Cream Mask. This mask is particularly good for blemishes, fine lines and wrinkles. We’ve got all of those (hooray!) so you could say it was perfect for us! We both really loved the alpine smell of this mask and thought it smelt good enough to eat, which was probably due to the lemon balm, cowslip and peppermint ingredients.

Big news! We’ve finally found something that we disagree on and oddly, it’s stretch mark cream. I (Victoria) prefer the Pregnacare cream whereas Jo is more of a Palmer’s Cocoa Butter kinda girl. Either way, unless we are just both super lucky, they have worked, so both receive the coveted She & Hem seal of approval. The Pregnacare is particularly good if, like me, you are allergic to the Palmer’s products. It also smells great, which is a bonus.

As for the Botanics eye roll on (seen below), although we’re not entirely convinced it makes a big difference to those pesky under eye areas, it feels refreshing and definitely helps you wake up in the morning. As someone not noted for an “up and at them” approach to the start of the day, this was certainly a bonus for me! This is a product I shall be repurchasing post pregnancy.

Thanks so much to The Bump Company for gifting us the super cupcake socks. They are almost too cute unravel, and make these products look even more alluring. Expect to see them on little She & Hem sometime soon!

Festive Prints with Emily and Fin

Festive Prints with Emily and FinFestive Prints with Emily and FinFestive Prints with Emily and FinFestive Prints with Emily and FinFestive Prints with Emily and FinDing Dong Merrily on High! The festive season is truly well upon us and, here at She and Hem, we strongly believe Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a novelty print or two to swan around in! Thankfully for us, we’ve teamed up once again with our faves Emily and Fin to style a couple of their seasonal showstoppers! Merry Christmas indeed!

Victoria is wearing the totally gorgeous Swiss Chalets Print* which features a sumptuous ski scene set in the mountains of Switzerland. The perfect retro winter wonderland! It looks super cute and the lovely blue and green shades really make it pop. The dress is available in two styles, with Victoria opting for the sleeveless ‘Penny’ which has a flattering fitted bodice and semi-full mid-calf length skirt. She teamed it with as many glittery accessories as possible, including a gold belt from Dorothy Perkins, sparkly polka dot tights from Topshop and glittery black pom pom pumps from Kaleidoscope*. Not a salopette in sight!

I had been eyeing up the beautiful Ornamental Lights Print* since I first spied it back in the Summer! I knew it was going to be the perfect Christmas print and oh boy was it worth the wait! Who doesn’t want to be festooned with festoon lights during the festive period?! It’s such a fabulous print and the colours of those delightfully decorative lights really work nicely against the cool grey colour of the dress. Again, this dress is available in two different styles (plus a top and some incredible pyjamas!) with this being the ‘Lucy’. I always love the ‘Lucy’ shape as the A-line shape is just so easy to wear and lends itself nicely to twirling. I styled my dress with some super duper shimmery tights from UKTights* and some gold flats from ASOS (similar here)

I should also add that we both sized up at least once for these dresses as we are now, drum roll please, 38 and 32 weeks pregnant! Can you believe it? I think these frocks do quite the excellent job of disguising the massive bumps! If you’re not epicly pregnant then these dresses do run true to size.

Loving your work as always, Emily and Fin!

She and Hem Baby Shower

Last weekend we gathered our nearest and dearest, popped on some pregnancy friendly party frocks and wandered (slowly) on down to our favourite tea room in Bristol, Cox and Baloney. Why? Why, only to celebrate the imminent arrival of our little bundle of joys at the She and Hem Baby Shower! Yippee! After shooting at Cox and Baloney several times over the last few years for the likes of Emily and Fin, Boden and Joy, we knew we’d love to hold some sort of event there one day, as it really is the perfect party venue. Luckily for us they had some availability, so we jumped at the chance to book all our chums in for a lovely afternoon of mocktails, sandwiches, scones and oh so much cake! Not to mention an endless supply of tea. Perfect!

We are pretty easy to please and decided we’d rather not have any baby shower games. We had invited more people than the venue usually holds (oops!), and we really wanted a chance to spend time and catch up with everyone who’d given up their day to spend it with us, without any forced fun. One thing we couldn’t resist though was a jazzy photo booth. Come on, we are bloggers after all. Jo fixed up some excellent props, and then we joined creative forces and spent the night before hanging lots of ribbon to our sparkly backdrop. At no point did either of us get frustrated with it not all holding together. Nope, not at all. Fortunately, it looked great on the day and everyone was super keen to get involved, even the grandmothers to be!

Alongside all of the incredible gifts we were both given by our very genourous friends and families (thanks guys!!), we were also sent this fun handmade nappy cake from The Bump Company and a wonderful personalised balloon from The Giant Balloon Company! Would you just look at those adorable little booties?! We really were so excited unboxing them both the day before the baby shower, and so touched that people are as excited as we are about our two tiny humans coming into the world. The cake and the balloon added an extra little something on the day, so thanks to both for sending them over to us. They were both big hits all round!

In true She and Hem matchy matchy style we wore dresses that complimented each other. Well, we like to think so! Jo’s beautiful Sequin Swing Dress is a maternity exclusive from ASOS and my Stardust Jewel Bodice Dress is by Rock-a-Bye Rosie from House of Fraser. I’d not heard of Rock-a-Bye Rosie before, but am now a big fan. I really love this dress. As it’s a maternity piece, I’m hoping to wear it to a Christmas party or two before I have to part with it! If not, I may just have to wear it around the house on maternity leave. Who doesn’t wear a party frock to watch This Morning?

Mickey Mouse x Cath Kidston | She and Hem

Do you remember back in September when we stepped out in matching twee as anything Winnie-the-Pooh dresses from the extremely popular Disney X Cath Kidston range? Well, they’ve only blooming done it again! This time we’ve gone full on red, black and blue for the brand new CK range dedicated to Mickey Mouse and his beloved Minnie! Mickey Mouse X Cath Kidston launches online at 8pm on Friday 2nd December and our advice is to get ready! If it’s anything like the super cute Winnie-the-Pooh range, you will need to be real quick if you want to get your hands on your favourite item from this collection – you may even want to schedule a trip to your nearest store for opening time on 3rd December. We wish you luck!

We’ve styled the spotty fit and flare dress* and matching skirt* (how cute is Minnie?!!), statement rucksacks* and those ridiculously cosy knits*! But it’s not just clothing and bags those cheeky mice have taken over! From mugs to brollies, there’s lots available for all budgets and all in time for Christmas. Bravo Cath Kidston, you’ve aced this collaboration! We have been living in these seriously snug cardigans since they dropped through our letterboxes last week, and the city scene rucksacks have proven to be really popular whilst out and about. Both items will definitely be staples in our post baby wardrobes, if we manage to make it out of the house that is.
