Brrrr it would appear it’s time to layer up, as despite still being Autumn, the temperature seems to have suddenly dropped! Never fear though, as it gives us the perfect opportunity to wrap up warm and keep toasty in this season’s must-have winter coats! We’ve searched high and low for our favourites, and we think these Yumi.co.uk lovelies are two of the best that AW15 has to offer. With check patterns and faux fur galore, both coats are effortlessly on trend and are just so blooming cosy. Just look how snug we are! Mmmm, snug.
I (Victoria) am wearing the Oversized Cheversizedck coat*, which just had to be mine as I am obsessed with all things yellow and grey. I was a little worried about it’s loose shape, as whenever I’ve tried on oversized coats before I’ve felt swamped, but I’ve had so many compliments about this one. The colours are much more vivid IRL, and it’s honestly the warmest thing I’ve ever worn. It’s definitely going to see me through winter. Underneath my woolly cocoon, I’m wearing the jazzy Contrast Stripe Shirt Dress*. I love it, it’s like all of the colours got together for a groovy abstract bender. There is no better way to compliment any dress and coat combo than with a pair of classic brown Chelsea Boots*, so that’s exactly what I did.
Jo’s rocking the lush Faux Fur Collar Swing Coat*, in a beautiful shade of blue. Unfortunately, the smaller sizes are currently sold out, but don’t feel blue, it’s also available in black! Hooray! I love the coat’s 1960’s inspired shape and think it looks perfect with tan lace up boots and the Building Block Day Dress*, which is a dress we’ve had our eyes on since Double Thumbs Dresses #60. The apartment print features babies in prams, dogs, cats, bunting, and even teeny tiny satellite dishes! It’s definitely in the running for AW15’s ‘Best Novelty Dress’. A highly coveted accolade.
Look out for our outfits coming up on Yumi’s blog soon!
We loved shooting our last Sugarhill Boutique post so much, we’ve decided to do another one and woah, what a scorcher it was too. The sunny climate called for up do’s, a trip to the local park, and matching heart sunglasses. What a blooming brilliant way to spend a Saturday morning! As you might be able to tell we both fell for the 1960’s style polkadot print from their new Autumn/Winter collection and couldn’t resist signing on the dotted line and styling it two ways. Both the Hayley Spot Jacquard Skirt* and the Dahlia Spot Dress* are super fun, whilst being so easy to wear, which are both big requirements for any item in the She and Hem wardrobe.
I (Victoria) took a walk on the wild side and paired the spotty skirt with the rawrsome Bella Tiger Blouse*. With tons of floating tiger heads, gold buttons and a dropped back, it’s pretty freakin’ fierce and we ain’t lion! Jo’s dress is the star of the show with a super chic tunic shape and snazzy zip detail, it’s the perfect dress to take you from work to play.
Now for the big bows! I accessorised my outfit with a black ribbon, sunglasses from Primark, a floral headband from New Look, and white heeled ASOS shoes (similar here). Jo layered her dress over a Zara blouse and accessorised with a humongous black bow headband from Forever 21, TkMaxx sunglasses, a cat shaped Dahlia bag, and black VANDER point shoes from Topshop.
What do you think? Are you ready to think about Autumn?
We managed to get a rare couple of days off work together this week and, after a few healthy hours of slobbing around in our PJs, decided to take full advantage of the beautiful Autumnal weather and headed out for a stroll.
Feeling rather seasonal, we decided it was the perfect opportunity to go pumpkin shopping and ended up with two rather gorgeous specimens that we have named Phil and Grant. Normal friends take photos of their pumpkins in public, right?
It was bizarrely warm for late October and we ended up casting our coats asunder for a proper play in the leaves as we had a good gossip and a catch up. We are so lucky to live next to such a gorgeous park!
Inspired by our frocks, we attempted a bit of a sixties vibe by adding our Boden* coats and white tights. Both of our dresses are from Warehouse* and we thought the colours looked rather spiffing together! It’s always nice when quite basic styles have fun details, such as Victoria’s snazzy collar and the excellent buttons on mine! Victoria finished her look with shoes from New Look and I teamed my look with a Gallic Rooster beret* (hello old friend), Topshop shoes and a black belt from ASOS.
