One of our favourite things about being a blogging duo (other than always having someone around to tell you that you have cookie in your hair) is planning and partaking in joint shoots. We’ve really mastered the art of prancing around in front of a camera in public spaces while trying to act super casual when a bunch of tourists walk past. Believe me, when you are dressed in matching floral dresses at 9am on a sunny day in Bath, this can be quite tricky…but it’s always hilarious!

I embraced my inner lady (she’s in there somewhere….) and wore pink AND hearts. I kept my look pretty simple, not only because we popped to do to this shoot en-route to Manchester, but also because I often think that a dress with this much awesome floralness going on deserves all of the attention! Jo kindly lent me her white Amazon sunglasses to compliment my very respectable New Look pink block heels. Wow, becoming a fashion blogger has really broadened my girly horizons!

Jo’s wondrous look, which I’ve decided to call ‘laid-back glam’, features those lush Topshop sunglasses and She and Hem staples, brown Topshop brogues. The vintage elements are brought to you in the form of a beauteous Olivia Burton watch and vintage brown belt, with simple black George tights. Our fab dresses are both from my new favourite people, Traffic People*!

New Look Summer

A little while ago we were very kindly asked if we would like to choose a summer outfit each from New Look’s summer range and, having both decided recently that we would like to step out of our usual comfort zone of twirly dresses, this seemed like the perfect opportunity for us to embrace some shorts! So last week, in between stuffing ourselves silly with breakfast at the Anthropologie Bath launch and heading up to Manchester, we found ourselves strolling around in our very best summer attire. As the sun had even made an appearance for the occasion, I decided to take V to one of my favourite teenage haunts, the picture perfect Henrietta Park for some photos!

She and Hem | New Look Summer When choosing our outfits, Victoria headed straight for New Look’s handy co-ords section (I wish more online shops had cottoned on to this) and selected her gorgeous red floral top and shorts set. It looked absolutely stunning on and she accessorised it perfectly with her Primark shell bag, sparkly George sunglasses* and jazzy cobalt blue Office sandals from House of Fraser*. She looked so bright and cheery in the vibrant colours and we both agree that the shorts especially are going to making many an appearance…if the sun holds up his end of the deal too.

She and Hem | New Look Summer I am always instantly drawn to anything white and crochet so these shorts went straight into my basket. If I was at a festival or on holiday I would be happy to rock them without tights but I don’t think Bath is quite ready for my jelly – they really are short! I do like them with tights though and my George ones are even ‘heat controlled’ so I didn’t get too hot! It took me a while to figure out what to team with them and ended up plumping for this gingham shirt top, which I now LOVE. It has such a cute tie detail at the bottom and I know I am going to be wearing it all summer long. I accessoried with Topshop brogues, a white Zatchel, a Pull & Bear cardigan and my fail safe Amazon heart sunglasses.

Outfit of the Day: Black and Blue She and Hem

Once in a blue moon I step away from my favourite dress shapes and styles and have a whirl at something new, which is exactly what happened when I caught a glimpse of this blue crepe shift dress from George (which has just been reduced to EIGHT POUNDS in their Holiday Shop!). Now, the loose shape is not one that I imagined would be that flattering, but I was pleasantly surprised. Turns out, I really like crepe. Not as much as I like crêpes, but almost! Next time I think I’ll wear it with a belt, but I haven’t found the perfect one just yet.

If you follow us on Twitter you will know that I braved bare legs and sandals for this first time this year last week and boy did I have passers by reaching for their sunglasses in horror. Embrace the pastiness I say! Anyway, if you have disproportionately big feet like myself and Paris Hilton, you will know that sandals can sometimes look pretty preposterous. This is why I’m a fan of the subtle sandal. I like to keep it simple to achieve aa dainty as look as possible, something of a challenge for the clown footed. These black beauties from Treds really came up trumps!

Sticking to my black and blue theme I pulled this cartoon bag out of my wardrobe that I purchased last year from Ebay. It’s awesome right? It’s cartoon styling blows my tiny mind.

Do you own any dresses that are just so perfect for you that you can wear them again and again and never get bored? Well I certainly do, and would jubilee’ve it, this is one of those dresses! This remarkably jolly, vintage inspired River Island number features teeny soldiers, blue horses and marching bands all having a right royal knees up and I just love it! Jubilicious!

Even though the dress is pretty jazzy, it’s still very versatile. On this occasion the sun was shining and I was feeling adventurous, so I decided to throw on as many colours as I could and head out for some larks, ending with a glorious sunset (the perfect ready made filter!). The red cardigan from Just Blue* works wonders for this quirky pattern by bringing out the bunting and the union jacks, as do the white Matalan tights. Even though this was a casual outfit, I couldn’t resist bringing a little razzle-dazzle with my silver sandals from Topshop and my absolute favourite Boden* bag. You can call me Queen V…

Outfit of the Day: At the Funfair

Over the glorious Bank Holiday Weekend I found myself at the Royal May Day Fair in Knutsford, an annual celebration that comes complete with a parade, Morris dancing, a maypole and, of course, a funfair!

I’ll admit that I wasn’t actually planning on going anywhere near rides when I threw on this ensemble but it proved fortuitous as I don’t think my usual fit and flare style would have been fairground appropriate! Zara have been solely responsible for converting me into a trouser wearer, with this hounds-tooth pair being my current favourites. I teamed them with a classic black and white striped tee from Great Plains and a small lightning bolt necklace from Tatty Devine.

I’m basically obsessed with M&S at the moment and as soon as this blue vanity bag appeared on their website it went straight into my basket! They also purport to have it in lemon but I’ve yet to see it in stock. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t keeping an eye out! The sunglasses were thrown in simply to bump myself up to free delivery (yes, I’m that person) but I had a feeling they would be sticking around. I have a bit of a thing for white sunglasses.

I finished off my outfit with some new heeled jellys from Treds*. I’ve spotted these on a few people and love how fun and comfy they look! For this occasion, I was happy to have something which made quite a smart outfit (for me!) seem a little more care free! They were a big hit and perfect attire for mooching around the Fair.

Are you all geared up for today’s post, because you are in for the ride of your life! Think you can handle it? Good. Anyway, the sun has got his hat on in Bristol at the moment, which is fortuitous for me as while Jo jetted off to Iceland for Easter, I’ve been exploring the charms of the South West. It’s been wheely spoketacular!

Now even though Bristol has more hills than an am-dram production of ‘The Sound of Music’ in the Scottish Highlands and I am about as fit as Gretl von Trapp, cycling is such a great way to get around. I sped off for a bit of bank holiday heavy pedaling and thought I’d share my riding ensemble with my favourite cyber cyclists. A pretty practical look I know. The shoes were comfier than they look, I promise!

“Florals? For spring? Ground breaking.” – Miranda Priestly

So, we know we aren’t introducing a revolutionary new trend here, but some things are just supposed to go together, like Fred and Ginger, Fred and Barney and Fred and George Weasley. Floral patterns in Springtime just go, ok? Although neither of us wear shirts very often, we absolutely could not resist these United Colours of Benetton printed beauties. Like Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, they just look so good together! Caution, this post contains more flowers than your Grandma’s favourite garden centre.

While I was pulling about a billion items out of my wardrobe to wear with this very pink Benetton shirt*, the above Primark skirt was a bit of a ‘This will never go, but what the hell, let’s try it!’ eureka moment. It’s not a subtle outfit that’s for sure, but after our little photo session, I really fell in love with the whole look. I can’t blinking wait to wear it again now the weather is fine and dandy. The red belt is from New Look, the pastel bracelet is from Accessorize and the blue sunglasses are also Primark.

Jo teamed her lilac floral shirt, also from Benetton*, with cute polka-dot shorts from Miss Selfridge, shoes from Primark and a black belt from ASOS. Her lush peach glasses, which get compliments wherever we go, are from Topshop. You wouldn’t catch us without our heart sunglasses, which you can find at Amazon!

Weekend Doll

She and Hem| Weekend Doll Way back in She and Hem history, Double Thumbs Dresses #14 to be precise, we featured a wonderful company called Weekend Doll! We quickly fell in love with their vintage inspired pieces, especially their modern take on 40s tea dresses and twirly 50s frocks! Heaven! We were therefore delighted when they got in touch to see if we would like to choose a dress each to feature. It’s a hard life sometimes.

J: I loved this blue chiffon Peter Pan Posey* collar dress from the moment I set eyes on it. It’s exactly what I look for in a dress in that it looks like the grown up version of something I would have worn when I was 7. Perfect. I’ve already worn it a few times and each time it has received numerous compliments – and not just from girls! I say! I’ve taken to wearing it with black accessories in my latest bid to look as much like an angry Alice in Wonderland as possible but I like teaming it with white tights and pastels too. The belt is from ASOS (the dress does comes with a red tie belt), the spot tights are from Oliver Bonas and my stomping boots are H! by Henry Holland. My heart sunglasses are an Amazon bargain.

V: I chose the delightful coral Maisy* dress. With it’s minty piping and beautiful big bow, it really stood out on Weekend Doll’s website. I had planned on wearing this as a day dress during the summer, but after slipping on some nude heels to take the photographs, the dress felt far too special! I’m now going to save it for a friends upcoming wedding. I kept my accessories really simple, wearing two pairs of sunglasses from Primark, as this pretty dress is definitely the star of the show!

Hello!

I’ve been wanting to write a new outfit post for a while but, as you might have noticed, the weather has not been favourable to bloggers (or anyone for that matter) of late! Thankfully, the sun made a brief appearance last week and so I grabbed my camera and headed out to the lovely city of Wells for a mooch around their market and to take a hasty snap or two of some new bits that I have been coveting.

Outfit of the Day: Winter Pastels

Last weekend I popped back to my old stomping ground of Bath for a January pick-me-up day. Bath is extremely good for the soul, it’s so beautiful and charming and spending a day there never fails to put me in a good mood. James and I spent the day doing a few of my favourite Bath related activities which nicely recreated many of the days we spent whilst I was living there. This involved a cream tea, a stroll along the beautiful canal path and then more food and drink from some of the various delicious eateries dotted around the fair city. I said it was good for the soul, not the waistline! Yum!

Despite saying that I didn’t want to visit any of the shops, I did end up having a cheeky gander in Topshop. I have been after a new pastel coat (I’m so trendy) and was really keen to see the mint one that I wrote about here. On passing the sale rail I caught sight of a coat which I had previously tried (and failed) to buy both online and instore and couldn’t believe that it was my size! I did a very embarrassing clap/jump/squeal thing which I reserve especially for such triumphant moments. It is the perfect coat AND it was half price. I did end up trying on the mint one too, for comparisons sake obviously, and it was no contest. It’s much more fitted and the colour is beautiful.
