In April you may remember we featured a couple of gorgeous dresses from Carousel, a brand we have become big fans of since we became aware of them last year. Luckily for us, they have just released a new collection which we are both completely smitten with. We wanted a really special background to shoot these pieces, so we braved the temperamental English weather, jumped into the She and Hem party bus, and zipped over to Tyntesfield in North Somerset and became one with the beautiful blooms. If you haven’t been to Tyntesfield and are ever in the area, do pop by!
I (Victoria) am completely in love with the Olivia Boat Dress. The colour is quite an unusual red/orange, but it’s absolutely stunning and is surprisingly versatile! I’ve not worn many full length sleeve dresses, but I’m definitely going to start, as this felt like such a nice alternative style. It’s possibly a little shorter than I would usually go for, but I feel that if I team it with flats or boots, I won’t scare too many people with my whiter than white legs! For this post I chose my current faves, the Keira Boots from Boden, which are currently half price. My sunglasses are these cat eye beauties from ASOS.
We are both obviously feeling shirt dresses at the moment. Jo’s dreamy Lucille Dress is a must purchase for any vintage fan. The 3/4 length sleeves and pleated skirt create such a flattering silhouette and would help take the dress from day to night time. The pattern is the sweetest and the colours really pop IRL! Pretty impressive right? Jo accessorised this floral number with tan boots from New Look (similar here) and went all matchy matchy with a ravishing red belt from ASOS and Moschino sunglasses combo from TK Maxx. See you for the next collection Carousel!
Would you just look at that beautiful camper van? A green dream parked in the perfect spot for a pair of bloggers celebrating their THIRD blog birthday! We can’t believe that She and Hem is now three years old. Happy Birthday to us! Thank you to everyone who has followed our little blogger journey this far. We are so thrilled with how far we’ve come, and are super excited about the future. Who knows what we will be up to in three years time? We’d love for She and Hem to grow and grow.
The sun is finally shining here in Bristol, so we grabbed our cameras and hit the road with our gorgeous new summer dresses from Carousel, who we discovered last year. If you love fun and colourful prints, you should definitely check them out. Both of our dresses are from Irish brand Circus, who love all things vintage. Jo wears the Loretta Tree Dress*, which is inspired by the dresses of the 1940’s with a cute tie waist and flattering shape. The fun tree print will be prefect for posing next to the pink blossom trees that seem to take over Bristol during Springtime. I (Victoria) am wearing the vivid blue Gina Parrot Dress*, which has more of a 1950’s shape with a gorgeous flared A-line skirt. The shirt style makes this dress an excellent transitional piece, which will see me through the Spring and Summer seasons.
We accessorized these darling dresses with polkadot tights from UK Tights*, and matching pastel clutch bags from Aspire Style*. Jo’s dandy dachshund necklace, seen above, is from Tatty Devine. He’s so adorable! The matching silver shoes were a completely unplanned coincidence, we just seem to have quite the knack for twinning. Jo’s pumps are from Topshop and my loafers are from Boden.
One of the things we love most about blogging is discovering exciting new brands so we were delighted when Carousel, an independent clothing store in Dublin, got in touch with us to see if we were familiar with their clothing line, Circus. We knew we were onto a winner when we opened up the website to be greeted with an abundance of vintage inspired prints and shapes! A new She and Hem favourite was immediately crowned.
We were quite overwhelmed with the amount of fun prints on offer so decided it would be nice to style some separates. Being the proven hot air balloon enthusiasts that we are, we were both drawn to blouses* which bore balloons! Aren’t they cute? As they always say, you can never have too many balloons in your wardrobe. They both have pretty smashing bows too and they fit delightfully. Skirt-wise, Victoria plumped for the hot pink anchor print skirt* which has a lovely, and flattering, retro shape. The shades of pink work so nicely together and really make for a rather special outfit. My eyes were immediately drawn to the Peggy Sunnies Skirt*. Due to my tendency to sport red heart sunglasses on a daily basis, it seemed meant to be! It’s such an excellent print and despite being slightly fearful of the below the knee length, I actually found it to be a rather nice change and it will no doubt be the perfect hem line come the (even) colder weather.
We are so happy to have discovered Circus and absolutely adore their love for nostalgia inspired fashion! If you are in Dublin you should definitely go and check out their shop as it looks like a real treasure trove of modern vintage mixed with the genuine article. We’ll see the rest of you on the website!
