Festival season is upon us once again and although we are no strangers to the festival scene, we aren’t off to any this year (boo hoo indeed!). Nevertheless, we couldn’t resist waving our kaleidoscopic She and Hem wand over some of the awesome pieces from the Boohoo festival collection and styling them up a storm. If you’ve read our About page, you may know that we actually met at a festival in Oxford over 10 years ago (!!) and have been firm friends ever since, even though we were certainly not as well dressed. Festival fashion is a lot more exciting now. If only Boohoo were around back then!
For us, festival fashion is less about neon and feathers and more about being relaxed and comfortable come rain or shine, because if you are at a British festival, you are probably going to get quite a bit of the former! Denim hotpants are not really for us. We went for easy to wear smocks with billowing sleeves, with Jo choosing the beautiful Ari Embroidered Blousen Sleeve Dress, while I (Victoria) styled the cute Laura Embroidered Demin Smock. Worried about feeling chilly? Fret not, for layers are your friend. A colourful bomber like the Rebecca Printed Bomber, seen above, is an excellent option.
Don’t forget about accessories! Sungasses are great for tired (hungover) eyes, whereas flimsy footwear is a definite no. We find boots are great for walking around the festival site and are a stylish alternative to wellies. My blue beauties are from Boden and Jo’s tan lace up boots are from New Look. As twinning luck would have it, we also both chose rucksacks as our festival bags of choice. I picked up this white wonder from Accessorize last year and it’s proven to be a staple in my wardrobe, especially to take on weekends away. Jo’s gorgeous brown version from Aldo has unfortunately sold out, but there is a similar one here. Our glorious floral crowns are from Crown and Glory. Bubbles, fizzy pop and mega lolz are models own.
Over to you readers. What’s your festival fashion essential?
We are both huge Crown and Glory fans so we were so very excited to hear that their Candy Shop pop-up in House of Fraser #cgxhof, was going to be coming to Bristol. What was doubly exciting was that the wonderful Sophie and Hayley from Blogclub had only gone and arranged a special Crown and Glory Blogclub event, pretty cool huh? Although the tickets sold out in under one minute (Bristol gals love a flower crown dontyaknow), we were lucky enough to get on the guest list and went on a jolly jaunt down to Cabot Circus in Bristol to create some beautiful bespoke floral goodies.
After sipping on a glass of fizz and scoffing a tasty cupcake, the lovely Sophie asked us to look at the array of glorious flowers and pop our favourites into a pot (as seen below), ready for herself and Gareth to work their magic. They are both too talented for words and watching them work away with such passion and precision was truly inspiring. Not only is Gareth a whizz at knocking up a stunning floral crown, but we also overheard that he made the fabulous cart workstation. Our new favourite flower-power couple for sure.
Whilst chatting to our favourite local blogger babes (including the lovely Emily from Mermaid Gossip pictured above and Sarah pictured below), we delved straight in and chose a magnificent mixture of yellows and oranges and pinks and reds. It’s all about the colour with Crown and Glory! Both of our crowns were created by Gareth who spent so much time and attention on them, we are absolutely thrilled with the results. Look out for them popping up very soon in an upcoming style post.
Crown and Glory are definitely the place to go to for loud and proud floral crowns, sparkly bows and perfect wedding accessories. If you live in the South West, they are going to be in House of Fraser at Bristol Cabot Circus today until Sunday 15th May, but if you don’t get chance to pop down to the Candy Shop, you must check out their website. It’s just so pretty.
With a name like Accessories to Murder, we could hardly let Halloween pass by without rounding up a spooktacular bonanza of terrifically terrifying accessories. So unlock your front door, disconnect your phone line and ignore that weird noise coming from the basement, it’s A2M time.
I think we can all agree that in the Halloween headband (vampire) stakes, this one from Urban Outfitters is pretty brilliant. I’d be tempted to add a my own K, for all year round usage.
AARRGHHHHH what better way to ward off the zombie apocalypse than with this fabulous necklace from Tatty Devine? There is no better way, I’ve looked into it.
Purveyors of dream-worthy hair accessories, Crown and Glory have embraced the dark side with a range of nightmarish headbands and clips. This glittery witches hat is my pick of the bunch.
I’m always a fan of something that manages to cover up half my face and this great mask from Miss Selfridge would do just the job.
