Hi! it’s sale time again and I am totally ready for some bargains! So, without further ado, here is a pretty massive list of fabulous frocks that have previously been deemed worthy of the highly coveted Double Thumbs seal of approval but have now been deemed worthy enough to go in the sale. Enjoy!
If anything takes your fancy, just click the dress and it will take you to the website!
I don’t usually appear on Double Thumbs but seeing as this dress has since disappeared from the Sainsbury’s website I was left with little choice as I couldn’t not feature the stripey supermarket stunner that has stolen my heart! If you live near a Sainsbury’s that stocks TU then you may be able to get your hands on this little beaut. If not, I thought this little deckchair inspired number from Fever was a more than adequate substitute. Gotta love a candy stripe!
I love these two summery prints from Seasalt. The vintage inspired shell number is perfect seaside attire and I really like the nice simple shape – plus it has pockets! Win. I am also totally obsessed with the beach umbrella print, that’s one packed beach! It’s all so lovely and fun – perfect for the warmer weather. Even in the rain we must parasol-dier on.
Who doesn’t love a cherry on top of their frock? This fruity number from Lady V is a real delight. I’ve been a fan of their 1950s inspired dresses for many a year now but this is my favourite print for some time. The neckline is super cute!
The princess inside of me desperately wants to prance about in this Chi Chi dress. It’s tulley scrumptious! Look at that frill waist! The whole thing is outrageously pretty and if you invite me to your wedding, I will turn up in this.
OK so this ASOS ruffle dress looks a little short but I think you all know me well enough by now to know that I’m always going to be a total sucker for a massive bow, not that she’s bothered to tie it properly. FOR SHAME, MODEL.
Speaking of big bows, this Lindy Bop dress has a rather splendid yellow one on display. How gorgeous is that Venice print? The whole thing is just smashing! Some extra good news is that Aspire Style who stock this dress are still offering our readers a 10% discount if you enter the code ‘sheandhem’ as you check out. You are welcome!
Last but not least we have this lovely sixties yellow number from Boden. I love the classic shift shape but it’s that knockout geometric print that really makes this one special. I really love the contrasting white and yellow – good work, everyone.
New Year’s Eve is THE night to get seriously sparkly. Whether you are planning a big night throwing shapes to Taylor Swift or a night in with friends with hot dogs and the Hootenanny, it is perfectly acceptable to go all out fancy! Sequins, sheer and sparkles, we just can’t get enough! When the clock strikes twelve, we want to be the girls reflecting off of the glitter ball.
Not only does this post feature balloons, bunting and bubbles but also our perfect New Year’s Eve party frocks. Victoria choose the zingy neon pink metallic Cyrus dress* and Jo picked the gorgeous fit and flare style Prova Heart dress*, both from Louche at Joy. Joyous! Victoria’s white tights are from UK Tights*, worn with gold heels from Office and a mighty mouse clutch from Primark. Jo’s glimmering gold glitter tights are from Topshop, worn with a black and gold cardigan from Fever*, gold heels from Dune and an exceptionally photogenic camera bag from Accessorize.
Happy New Year!
A big thank you to Cox and Baloney for letting us take over their snug for our early celebrations.
Merry Boxing Day one and all! Did you all have a suitably brilliant Christmas? Today is probably the best day of the whole year as absolutely nobody minds if you spend 24 hours in your pyjamas, eating chocolate and watching children’s films. Three cheers to that! It’s also a good excuse to start spending that Christmas money as pretty much everyone now has a January sale on! Here’s our current most wanted list. We can’t guarantee that everything here will still be in stock so NO TEARS PLEASE, it’s Christmas.
The ASOS sale is so big that I have barely scratched the surface! My eyes can’t cope.
It’s beginning to look a lot like late November Christmas which means I am beginning to stock up on as many gold sparkly things that I can lay my glittery mitts on! (Note to self: buy glittery mitts) After all, this is the season to wear sequins and I for one am all for a bit of bling! I had already begun digging out my seasonal wears when the lovely folk at Fever London invited me (and Victoria too but unfortunately you only get to look at my festive mug as she has fled the country) to take part in their #STYLEMYNIGHT challenge to create the perfect evening look from their occasion collection.
As a fan of Fever London’s vintage style, I knew picking a dress was going to be easy! I wasn’t wrong and as soon as I saw the Barberella Prom Dress* I was in love! It’s such a fun piece and the beautiful gold and blue circular pattern is a shimmery triumph! I decided to embrace the ice cool palette and teamed it with white tights from ASOS, gold glittery heels from Dune, a gold belt from Primark, my trusty Cara Camera bag from Accessorize and a tinsel bow headband from ASOS. I was sort of aiming for an Alice in Wonderland does NYE vibe!
One of the biggest things I struggle with when putting together occasion worthy outfits is what to do about keeping warm! I saw that Fever London had a great range of party appropriate cover-ups and decided on a Ursa Sparkly Cardigan* to complement my already quite glitzy outfit! I am so pleased with it and know it will be jazzing up my outfits from now on!
I completed my look with my gorgeous Eliza Coat from Boden* which will definitely keep me nice and warm when I am inevitably waiting for a taxi home. I think the pink looks lovely against the blue and gold tones of the dress.
Head over to the Fever London Facebook page where you can check out all the blogger looks from the #STYLEMYNIGHT challenge and vote for your favourite (*cough*). But what’s in it for ME I hear you cry! Well, the answer is potentially £200 worth of Fever London vouchers which one lucky voter will win! Good luck!
I don’t know if you’ve noticed but the weather seems to have waved a fond farewell to sunshine and warmth and replaced it with rain, wind and a brisk chill. This is, of course, brilliant news as it means we can all finally justify buying those coats we’ve been stroking in shops since mid August. Marvelous. Here are some of our current favourites…
First up is this dreamy oversized blazer fit coat from Oasis. I adore the natural colour but if you want to be totally jazzy, it also comes in very bright shades of orange and yellow.
You won’t get the hump about the cold in this luxurious vintage camel number from Louche. If that faux fur doesn’t get you, the lining will – it’s covered in super cute animals!
Go dotty for this spotty retro Hell Bunny number. Giant buttons and pockets are clearly the way forward.
Forever 21 appears to be THE place to go for budget friendly winter coats. The above also comes in black and camel but they have a pretty enjoyable selection of plaid too.
I think this gorgeous Louche number might be my current most coveted coat. I adore the pink, which thankfully seems to be still a big trend for 2014, but it also comes in a rather fetching shade of blue.
This Warehouse coat is neatly ticking the pink, plaid and pockets boxes. Plus I do love a brushed fabric. It makes up for the fact I don’t own a cat.
I really rate the ASOS Dolly style coats, having bought one this time last year, and so I thought this was a bit of a bargain. I really like the ice blue colour above but, for a £16 extra, it also comes in the bright raspberry.
If you like this sixties style Sugarhill Boutique number with its lovely fluffy collar and velvet (I think?) detailing then I suggest you step on it as it seems to be rapidly going out of stock.
The more I stare at this Fever coat the more convinced I am that we are meant to be together. Beautiful colour, beautiful collar and the perfect coat shape.
Last but not least is this lovely swing coat from ASOS. I think the swing style is super cute and flattering – plus it would totally hide any extra roast dinners! Good work, fashion. It’s also available in pink.
Hello and welcome to our roundup of the dresses deemed worthy of the highly coveted She and Hem Double Thumbs seal of approval. As promised, this week we have an all singing, all dancing double Double Thumbs with this second installment being a prom dress special! Wahoo! We shall go to the ball!
We begin with this beautiful pastel and metallic (two trends in one you say? tick tick!) Fever dress which is available from Rivers and Roads. This particular beauty has actually just arrived through my letter box so will no doubt be appearing in a post soon! I couldn’t wait to share it with you though as it’s just so pretty! The pastel hues combined with the sparkly fabric gives a lovely shimmery effect and one which is perfect for spring/summer parties.
You could inject a bit of floral fancy into your prom with this big bold and beautiful dress from the ever wonderful Louche, from Joy. This capped sleeve dress is gorgeous and is a decent length too. It would also look bloomin’ marvelous with a petticoat!
I’m not sure if I can adequately describe how much I love this ASOS* dress and I’m clearly not alone as it keeps whizzing in and out of stock (at the time of writing it’s currently unavailable but persevere if you’ve got you heart set on it). I want to twirl in it and I want to twirl in it now.
I’m not usually one to fall for a strapless dress but there’s just something so classic and pretty about this River Island* number. I love the large stripes and how the pink and white complement one another. It’s all just a bit dreamy.
Oh my, this is pretty much pink perfection. Will you just look at that bow!? I don’t even care that I don’t have a ball to go to, this F&F* dress shall me mine! They currently appear to have knocked 30% off the £30 pricetag which makes it a total bargain! It would also make a pretty great bridesmaid dress, dontchathink?
We love a bit of Lady V London around here, so there was much cooing when they announced their new collection. I found it near impossible to choose a favourite but have plumped for this vintage peach and navy tea dress. LOVE.
This Hell Bunny dress from Aspire Style is super duper fun! The colour is fabulous, the spots are genius and the shape and style scream TO THE DANCE FLOOR.
I love this silhouette of this cotton Phase Eight dress. The colour and pattern are simply divine and who doesn’t love a tie belt?
And finally, if you’re looking for length then this stunning lace overlay dress from Little Mistress could well be the one. There’s so much beautiful detailing and the cowl back is quite frankly breathtaking. Plus it’s £45. As the kids say, Little Mistress you cray cray.
That’s all for this week! However, before I go I would like to say a massive MASSIVE thank you for nominating us for the Company Style Blogger Awards 2014. We have now officially been shortlisted in the Best Blogging Duo or Team category and it’s honestly a dream come true for us both. We are against some truly inspirational bloggers but if you would like to vote for us to win, please click the image below!
Morning! We’ve finally hit day two of our time at London Fashion Week. It seems crazy that this was over a week ago now! How time has flown. As you can see, the weather had improved somewhat for our second day of fashion fun, even allowing for some outside photo ops!
We had another bright and early start in order to attend the Orla Kiely showcase at Central Saint Martins. We were so incredibly excited to attend the show and it completely lived up to our expectations. We’ll be blogging about the showcase later this week but, in the meantime, how cute are the personalised coffee cups they were handing out?
