Hi! it’s sale time again and I am totally ready for some bargains! So, without further ado, here is a pretty massive list of fabulous frocks that have previously been deemed worthy of the highly coveted Double Thumbs seal of approval but have now been deemed worthy enough to go in the sale. Enjoy!
Over the glorious Bank Holiday Weekend I found myself at the Royal May Day Fair in Knutsford, an annual celebration that comes complete with a parade, Morris dancing, a maypole and, of course, a funfair!
I’ll admit that I wasn’t actually planning on going anywhere near rides when I threw on this ensemble but it proved fortuitous as I don’t think my usual fit and flare style would have been fairground appropriate! Zara have been solely responsible for converting me into a trouser wearer, with this hounds-tooth pair being my current favourites. I teamed them with a classic black and white striped tee from Great Plains and a small lightning bolt necklace from Tatty Devine.
I’m basically obsessed with M&S at the moment and as soon as this blue vanity bag appeared on their website it went straight into my basket! They also purport to have it in lemon but I’ve yet to see it in stock. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t keeping an eye out! The sunglasses were thrown in simply to bump myself up to free delivery (yes, I’m that person) but I had a feeling they would be sticking around. I have a bit of a thing for white sunglasses.
I finished off my outfit with some new heeled jellys from Treds*. I’ve spotted these on a few people and love how fun and comfy they look! For this occasion, I was happy to have something which made quite a smart outfit (for me!) seem a little more care free! They were a big hit and perfect attire for mooching around the Fair.
Howdy partners! It’s DT time! Your weekly *sideways glance* roundup of the dresses we have deemed worthy of the highly coveted Double Thumbs seal of approval. Before we crack on, I am going to make a shameless plea! The nominations for the Company Blogger Awards 2014 have opened and we would be chuffed as nuts if you would consider voting for us. There’s even a blogger duo category! Shameless plea over, it’s frock o’clock.
I have been waiting forever (at least 3 weeks) for this beauty to hit the Laura Ashley website and it sure was worth the wait. It’s got the most gorgeous old world map print, complete with big ships, whales and deckchairs! Yes, more deckchairs! I hereby declare deckchairs to be a SS14 essential.
Oh me oh my, ASOS are killing it with the dresses at the moment. They rather inconsiderately keep selling out before I have the chance to buy them (and by that I mean they aren’t hanging around long enough to go into a sale), which is a real bummer. This gorgeous vintage style dress has a beautiful off the shoulder neckline and sublime fit and flare shape.
Matalan are also bringing the pretty this season with some lovely feminine florals. This gorgeous organza prom dress has a super flattering silhouette and the all important mesh panel.
This postcard print dress from Great Plains is surely worth writing home about (unlike my jokes, eh). I do enjoy a shirt dress and this one happens to have a lovely rounded collar and a very pretty peach and blue pallet going on. It’s also got birds on it. So that’s nice. Hello one and all and welcome back to your weekly (ahem) roundup of the dresses we have deemed worthy of the highly coveted Double Thumbs seal of approval. You might have noticed that we skipped a week last week so, by way of an apology, I have made this one slightly longer. I know, I really do spoil you.
Right, so, this is a little unprecedented but first up we have FOUR dresses from the rather brilliant, People Tree. The first three form part of their ongoing collaboration with Orla Kiely, who I know we have been relentlessly banging on about recently but I can’t help it if she keeps bringing the pretty to the party. This new collaboration features three dancing girl silhouette prints and they are all so SO great. I really couldn’t choose just one so I’ve had to go with three but I could easily have chosen more. Yikes. And just when I thought I was safe I spied the balloon print dress and practically combusted at my computer. What the heck, People Tree? Are you deliberately trying to bankrupt me?
Oh good, more reasons to spend all my money! The new Poppy collection landed this week and as usual it’s perfect. This time they have embraced bright bold colours as their characters, Poppy and Fred, take Mr Giraffe to the seaside. I don’t know what party balloons have got to do with giraffes at the seaside but if the result is always this pretty, I’m on board. No, I’m not drunk. Continue reading Double Thumbs Dresses #29→
Morning! We’ve finally hit day two of our time at London Fashion Week. It seems crazy that this was over a week ago now! How time has flown. As you can see, the weather had improved somewhat for our second day of fashion fun, even allowing for some outside photo ops!
We had another bright and early start in order to attend the Orla Kiely showcase at Central Saint Martins. We were so incredibly excited to attend the show and it completely lived up to our expectations. We’ll be blogging about the showcase later this week but, in the meantime, how cute are the personalised coffee cups they were handing out?
Howdy dress fans! Can you believe how fast the weeks are going at the moment? I can barely keep up! In fact, I’m actually still thinking about that Lucky Cat dress from last week. But, whatever, it’s totally time to move on and take a gander at this week’s selection of dresses deemed oh-so-worthy of the highly coveted Double Thumbs seal of approval. It’s a good job I’ve just been paid as this selection is not particularly budget friendly.
First up is this berry nice dress from Great Plains. It’s a lovely length, so perfect for wearing to work, and it ticks the very important sleeves and pockets boxes. It has a lovely big sash to nip your waist in, which is flattering but also means you can have a nice big fun bow. Woo! I’ve gone for the traditional red strawberry but if you’re a fruity renegade, it also comes in yellow.
People Tree have done the double this week with two fabulous dresses. I think we’ve established that I like anything with a cat on so it’s no surprise that the vintage style Mae Cat dress floats my boat. I love the colours and the fact that People Tree have nailed the evil glare cats give you when you’ve disturbed their day. It’s also a fab fit and flare shape with a tie belt and pockets.
Next up is the pretty bow print dress. I’m not usually one for predominantly black dresses but this one really appeals to me. The sleeves are simply divine and the shape is another vintage inspired affair. It looks a little Blair Waldorf to me, which is perhaps why I want it so much.
I have no idea how I stumbled across Nadinoo (I’m inclined to blame Pinterest) but oh my what a pretty label this is. I’m pretty obsessed with their about page which describes their style as whimsical and enchanting whilst each piece is designed ‘for three fictional characters Pixie, Fleur and Lula’. My favourite is this ladder print dress which has one of the most whopping great bows I’ve ever seen. Gorgeous. Continue reading Double Thumbs Dresses #26→
It’s Double Thumbs time! Our round up of the dresses we have deemed worthy of the highly coveted Double Thumbs Dresses seal of approval. If you’re a fan of a good collar then this, dear reader, is the post for you as not since Usher has one person popped so many in one place.
I have a feeling Cath Kidston and I are going to fall out. I mean, seriously, how is one person supposed to afford all of the pretty, all of the time? I can’t cope. They have been on an absolute novelty print roll over the past year with the trains, horses, mushrooms and cottages all taking up She and Hem wardrobe space. SS14 looks set to be even better with the safari and brighten up prints already looking dreamy. However, I’m going to kick off the CK loving with these two tea cup print frocks. The top one being my absolute dress crush of the week. I love the colour, the length, the print and the pockets. It’s an all round winner really. The second dress took me by surprise as I simply wasn’t expecting a dress like this to appear this season. It’s really rather lovely though, with another great print and a very pretty collar. I’m really looking forward to seeing both dresses in store. My bank balance, less so.
If you haven’t already checked out Ever Ours then you are in for a treat. This site always has wonderfully interesting pieces, especially when it comes to dresses. This retro print dress is slightly bonkers in the best possible way. It’s like looking at your Grandma’s carpet through a kaleidoscope. I don’t think I can give a higher compliment than that really.
If you’re tired of forgetting your umbrella then perhaps wearing 700 of them on your frock will help jog your memory. This lovely (and on sale!) dress from Great Plains is the perfect shirt dress shape. I adore those long sleeves and the flattering tie belt. You can thank @dinoprincesschr (who may well be my dress soul mate) for this one as I must admit to not being familiar with Great Plains before they popped up on her Twitter feed. Turns out the Great in their name is well deserved. Continue reading Double Thumbs Dresses #23→
