We’ve got a spring in our step thanks to Kaleidoscope who have just launched their #SpringCleanYourWardrobe campaign. They kindly asked us to choose a few pieces from their latest collection to show how we transition between the seasons, while keeping things fresh! As well as transitioning between seasons, we are also transitioning into dressing like badass Mothers! This has meant a bit of a shift in style for us both and has meant we are looking for practically as well as things that are fashionable.
As the weather is pretty changeable at the moment, we both plumped for a cropped trouser. Victoria went for the Culotte Dungarees* which she described as ‘an enjoyable length’. Take from that what you will. They are an excellent update on your bog standard dungaree and are perfect for layering with either a cute t-shirt or a jumper, depending on the temperature. Ever the renegade, Victoria did neither of those things and styled them with the rather jazzy Graduated Spot Print Blouse* instead. This was chosen due to its striking resemblance to a baby sensory book and we are pleased to report that Ada approves! Babies are always on the brain now here at She and Hem! The Snakeskin Panel Backpack looks great but was slightly smaller than expected so it will have to come back out when changing bags aren’t an essential! However if you don’t need to cart around loads of stuff it’s a lovely piece!
I (Jo) went for the outrageously green Button Detail Cropped Trousers*. Thanks to their high waist, I find these are so incredibly comfy to wear and I really like the button detailing around the pockets. I was a bit worried that I would find it difficult to style them but actually I really like how they pop against other colours. I teamed them with the nautical Dipped Hem Stripe Shirt* which ticks both my breast feeding friendly box and the no need to iron box! A double winner. The fabric is a lovely soft flowing material making it perfect for warmer days and I love how versatile it is. I’ll be wearing it a lot! Bag wise, I went for the Cross Hatch Saddle Bag* because I’m a sucker for pink! It does come with a long pink strap but I swapped mine for the Brighten Up Your Day bag strap* from Cath Kidston. I think the yellow and the pink looks excellent together! I also choose the floral bomber because I really struggle to find lightweight jackets and I like that I’m able to pop it in my rucksack if the sun decides to shine unexpectedly.
Finally, shoes! We are both wearing T-Bar Pointed Toe Pumps which are surprisingly comfy (we’ve been burned by flat sandals before – ouch!).
Big thanks to Kaleidoscope for our new outfits!
Ding Dong Merrily on High! The festive season is truly well upon us and, here at She and Hem, we strongly believe Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a novelty print or two to swan around in! Thankfully for us, we’ve teamed up once again with our faves Emily and Fin to style a couple of their seasonal showstoppers! Merry Christmas indeed!
Victoria is wearing the totally gorgeous Swiss Chalets Print* which features a sumptuous ski scene set in the mountains of Switzerland. The perfect retro winter wonderland! It looks super cute and the lovely blue and green shades really make it pop. The dress is available in two styles, with Victoria opting for the sleeveless ‘Penny’ which has a flattering fitted bodice and semi-full mid-calf length skirt. She teamed it with as many glittery accessories as possible, including a gold belt from Dorothy Perkins, sparkly polka dot tights from Topshop and glittery black pom pom pumps from Kaleidoscope*. Not a salopette in sight!
I had been eyeing up the beautiful Ornamental Lights Print* since I first spied it back in the Summer! I knew it was going to be the perfect Christmas print and oh boy was it worth the wait! Who doesn’t want to be festooned with festoon lights during the festive period?! It’s such a fabulous print and the colours of those delightfully decorative lights really work nicely against the cool grey colour of the dress. Again, this dress is available in two different styles (plus a top and some incredible pyjamas!) with this being the ‘Lucy’. I always love the ‘Lucy’ shape as the A-line shape is just so easy to wear and lends itself nicely to twirling. I styled my dress with some super duper shimmery tights from UKTights* and some gold flats from ASOS (similar here)
I should also add that we both sized up at least once for these dresses as we are now, drum roll please, 38 and 32 weeks pregnant! Can you believe it? I think these frocks do quite the excellent job of disguising the massive bumps! If you’re not epicly pregnant then these dresses do run true to size.
Loving your work as always, Emily and Fin!
We’ve written about our love of Kaleidoscope before, so we were thrilled when they got in touch to ask if we would like to style some pieces from their new all singing, all dancing Autumn Winter TV ad! We got a bit overexcited (as is standard) when we visited the TV AD shop and were presented with a whole host of autumnal shades, lovely knits and one heck of a faux fur coat. We did sort of go for a bull in a china shop approach to choosing these outfits (we just wanted it all, OK?) but thankfully I think we’ve just about pulled them off!
We both tend to gravitate towards anything yellow so it was no surprise when Victoria plumped for the gorgeous Pleat Detail Elasticated Print Skirt*. After a lot of umming and ahhing she eventually decided to go all matchy matchy on me by teaming it with the Dipped Back Hem Geometric Print Top*. The print is a little darker IRL than we thought it would be but I think it looks flippin’ brilliant and, key for us, is totally pregnancy friendly thanks to the elasticated waistband. It’s going to look so cute this season with thick tights and chunky boots and that top is going to look lovely thrown on with some jeans for an autumnal stroll. I can see both pieces becoming key AW wardrobe staples! Never one to turn down more yellow, Victoria also went for the Open Check Coatigan*, a word neither of us have tired of saying, which is just such a super piece for this time of year. It’s so cosy and the perfect extra layer to wear as the weather turns chillier.
I went for the Tie Neck Print Smock Dress* which has a delightful eye catching print and, my fave, a tie bow collar! I think the whole thing gives off quite a 70s vibe and when I wore it to work this week it received a heck of a lot of compliments. Being pretty pregnant right about now, I sized up a couple of sizes to accommodate the bump so I was a bit concerned about how it might look on me but I needn’t have worried as it’s such a flattering shape and looks fab! I also couldn’t resist nabbing the Oversized Faux Fur Jacket* which was calling my name from the moment I watched the advert. It’s so fun and so warm! Everyone needs one of these in their wardrobe. I am now desperate for it to get colder!
Shoe wise, we both fell hard for the Pom Pom Detail Lurex Pumps* which, thankfully for us, Kaleidoscope were happy for us both to style! Shake your pom poms, indeed! They are so great and the perfect flats for party season thanks to their furry friend and, did we mention, they are super sparkly too!
You can buy all of these pieces on the Kaleidoscope AW TV AD shop!
When we spotted these gorgeous pink and blue dresses from Oasis via House of Fraser*, we thought it was about time that fabulous florals frocks made a very welcome return to She and Hem. They compliment each other so well, we just knew we had to style them, and boy did we pick the right day to do it! On the hottest day of the year so far, we took a very short stroll to a dreamy road in Bristol full of pastel coloured houses, cute doors and vintage cars. So, when can we move in?
I (Victoria) am planning on wearing my pretty organza skater dress to a family wedding on Friday. That’s if I can still fit into it with my ever growing bump! Keep your fingers crossed for me, as I don’t have a plan B! I’m a huge fan of the digital print flowers, the super stripes and the flattering sleeves. I felt it didn’t need any accessories other than these glorious gold heels (old, similar here), my trusty Boden* sunglasses and my BFF in matching colours! Jo’s maxi dress screams summer garden party with it’s long length, flattering slit and classic floral print. It’s just so easy to wear. She swapped the blue belt which comes with the dress for a yellow bow waist belt from Boden*, and kept the colourful vibe going with block heels from Kaleidoscope*. Jolly good.
Big thanks to House of Fraser for these fabulous summer frocks!
