Winter Style with Fashion World

We love it when an email arrives in our inbox from a brand we haven’t heard of before. It’s always so exciting discovering a new website to browse, especially when it’s full of pieces we love! So we were excited to hear from Fashion World who invited us to put together a couple of outfits featuring their winter essentials! They have SO much good stuff and there’s still time to order for Christmas, if you’re quick!

Jo was immediately smitten with the Sylvia Stripe Dress by Monsoon* and was determined to build an outfit around it! It’s such a flattering and easy to wear style, with a super stretchy jersey fabric (perfect for this indulgent season!). It’s just so flippin’ comfy and there’s zero ironing required, always a win! We always appreciate a dress than can be worn with all varieties of shoe, and we think this frock looks just as fabulous teamed with Jo’s Simply Be Patent Boots* as it would do with heels. To finish off her look, Jo added a yellow Wool Beret by Accessorize which goes perfectly with the rainbow chevrons on the dress and totally nails the colour block trend! Woo!

Victoria decided to fully embrace the Christmas spirit by wearing an actual Silver Tinsel Jumper*. It’s SO cool and an easy way to add some festive sparkle to any outfit at all. How awesome would it look with a sequin skirt? Blingtastic! For this outfit, she decided to dress it down with some Spot Side Tapered Jersey Trousers which she described as “so comfortable it’s like I’m wearing my pyjamas in public”. Is there higher praise than this? As you can tell, we are really into easy to wear fashion and these trousers, with their lovely detailing, are the perfect way to look like you’ve made an effort when really they’ve been lying on your bedroom floor. She finished off her outfit with a pair of trusty Chelsea Boots*, an absolute wardrobe staple.

Winter Style with Fashion World

Both outfits came in at under the £100 mark (Victoria actually chose a couple of tops to layer under her jumper too! ) which we think is pretty great value. Let us know if you’re a Fashion World shopper or if you’re tempted by any of the items we chose!

This post was written in collaboration with Fashion World and all items featured were gifted.

Princess Dress in Ivory £125 from Pretty Eccentric
Princess Dress in Ivory £125 from Pretty Eccentric

I am loving all the fruity prints on the high-street at the moment but, as a fan of all things yellow, the lemon has to be my favourite. This lovely summer dress by Louche is available from Joy, who are opening up in Bristol this week! Be warned, bank balance. Be warned.

Peyton Wrap Dress £79

Victoria and I popped into Monsoon last week and spent a good while cooing over their Fusion range. This vintage inspired floral print dress was a clear favourite! The pattern and shape are so pretty!

How adorable is this organza dress from Chicwish? It’s so cute! I love all of the embroidery detailing and the colours are just perfect.

Alice Skater Dress In Citrus Waffle £40
Alice Skater Dress In Citrus Waffle £40 by Motel

This 60s style Motel dress is a bit of a winner in my eyes! Heck, anything which features the description ‘citrus waffle’ is always going to grab my attention. I am also always a sucker for a peter pan collar. Dreamy! Oh and FYI, you can get 20% off at Motel using the code ‘sheandhem’. You are welcome.

Gingham Empire Waist Dress £10
Gingham Empire Waist Dress £10 from F&F

Cross Stitch Dress £55 by Poem at Oliver Bonas
Cross Stitch Dress £55 by Poem at Oliver Bonas

Last but not least is this fabulous frock from Oliver Bonas. The floral print is simply stunning and the lightweight fabric, slightly flared skirt and short sleeves make it a perfect go to summer dress.

Double Thumbs Dresses #8

Whoopsy daisy! I’m once again slightly late with my round up of the dresses worthy of the highly coveted She and Hem Double Thumbs Up seal of approval. Or, as I like to think, I’m just fashionably late….

Soft Serving of Style Dress $74.99 (£49) from Modcloth

A Biscuit, a Basket Dress $82.99 (£55) from Modcloth

First up we have two tasty frocks from the consistently amazing Modcloth! The ice-cream print dress will surely sprinkle some joy over your wardrobe with it’s delicious mint colouring and row upon row of tempting lemon and vanilla cones. It’s made from a lovely thick cotton and the a-line shape means that it’s super flattering. A FAB summer dress! Meanwhile, the biscuit print dress is bourbon on the ridiculous! The whole biscuit family is represented in this stunner of a dress, right down to the jammy dodger. Nice!

Purple and Yellow Floral Crochet Waist Dress £14.99 from New Look

Tis the season for pretty, floaty, floral numbers and this dress from New Look will certainly have you hay-feverish as it ticks all of those boxes, plus the all important under £20 box! Yippee! Purple and yellow is one of my favourite colour combinations which possibly explains why I was so drawn to this dress. Sadly for me, I already own an embarrassing amount of little floral dresses but none of them have an adorable crochet lace panel at the waist so maybe, just maybe, this might have to be mine.

Clementine Dress £59 from Monsoon

This beautiful vintage inspired number from Monsoon is just perfect for summer occasions. I think the floral print is just gorgeous and has a wonderful mix of corals, mustards, blues and greens. The scooped neckline, full skirt and pleated waistband all add to its charm.

Hearts Print Dress £34.99 from Mango

It was certainty love at first sight with this adorable navy heart print dress from Mango. It’s made from chiffon so definitely good for a twirl or two, it has beautiful buttons leading up to the scooped neckline and, most important of all, it has hidden pockets! Merciful heavens!

Jacquard Skater Dress £16.00 from Matalan

Hey look it’s another little floral number! But this time, this one has sleeves! And if it’s one thing that improves a dress, it’s a good sleeve. Matalan have this wonderful skater dress in a variety of colours and styles but this one is my absolute favourite! I just love the woven jacquard (you’ll need to go zoom in on the website for that particular insight) which gives it a far more expensive feel than it’s £16 price-tag and the print is just so so pretty. One flor-al occasions, if you will.

Spilsbury Dress £89.50 from Jack Wills

Jack Wills have come up with this fabulous 60’s inspired dress which I have a serious style crush on! I always love a good collar and that one is just screaming out for some fun collar clips! I think it’s possibly a bit too short for work, which is a shame, but it’s definitely a great day dress that could easily be taken through into evening wear with a pair of chunky black platform shoes and some retro accessories.

Hell Bunny Sunrise 50’s Dress £44.99 from Soho’s

Last but not least is this fab 50’s frock from Soho’s, who I stumbled upon whilst browsing Pinterest and then spent the next hour lusting over all of their dresses! After a lengthy internal debate, I eventually settled on this aqua blue dress due to it’s cheerful pattern of sunflowers and daisies. I love the large Peter Pan collar and the full skirt, which would look amazing with a big 50’s style petticoat underneath. Accessories fans will also be pleased to learn that the white belt is included in the price. Wizard!

See you next week!

Toucan play that game

My heart is all of a flutter for the many  bird prints that are currently taking over the high street. Here are some of my current favourites!

Fiesta Flamingo Dress – Coral £48 from Sugarhill Boutique

First up is the zesty little flamingo number from Sugarhill Boutique. It will be fabulous fun to wear in the summer months (if and when they arrive) and would also be perfect for the current climate when teamed with tights and a denim jacket. The back also has a really unusual criss cross detailing which is an added bonus.

Zatchel Flamingo Print Bag £120 available exclusively from Oliver Bonas

Sticking with flamingos, next we have this incredible Zatchel, which is an Oliver Bonas exclusive. I consider £120 a lot of money to be spending on a bag but I have heard such great things about Zatchel that I am definitely tempted. I can just imagine the looks of envy I would receive on parading around town with this bag. FlamingWOAH, ammiright?

Orla Kiely Love Bird Print Skirt £58 from People Tree

Orla Kiely can do no wrong in my eyes and her collection for People Tree is no exception. I have spent many hours of drooling over her website so it’s a nice change to be drooling over something which isn’t completely out of my budget. This love bird print skirt is top of my wish list.

Bird Song Print Dress £29 by Poem

Back to Oliver Bonas and this Bird Song dress by their  in house brand Poem. This dress looks so easy to wear! You could just throw it on and go. A perfect weekend dress. I really love the little bow belt too. Good work, Bonas.

Toucan Print Shorts from £30 Yumi

SHORTS! TOUCAN PRINT SHORTS! WITH A BOW! I got very excited when I saw these on the Yumi site and then I tried to imagine how the devil I would get away with wearing them. I’m not sure I can get away with them but I might have to go in and try them on – just to be sure.

Peach Bamboo Bird Tights £10 from Topshop

I have really got to stop buying tights but it’s so difficult when presented with cuties like these! I find Topshop tights to be some of the best quality on the high street and these pretty bird print tights are like nothing I own.

Bryony Dress £55 from Monsoon

Here we have my perfect birdy work dress from Monsoon. It looks so lovely and light to wear! It’s a good length, it has sleeves (!), a tie waist and cute little buttons too.

Puffin Beach Skirt £22 from Vintage Style Me

Back to the fun stuff now and look at this puffin print skirt from Style Vintage Me. It’s just all kinds of adorable and makes me want to go on holiday right now.

White Birds Scarf Watch £52 from Olivia Burton

I have always been a bit useless about wearing watches, either forgetting to put them on in the morning or losing them, but since receiving an Olivia Burton watch for Christmas this is no more! I actually understand what it is to feel naked without a watch! This bird print scarf watch looks perfect for summer and I really enjoy the idea of being able to tie my strap in a bow.
