That’s all for now folks. Until next week, keep accessorising!
Festival season is upon us once again and although we are no strangers to the festival scene, we aren’t off to any this year (boo hoo indeed!). Nevertheless, we couldn’t resist waving our kaleidoscopic She and Hem wand over some of the awesome pieces from the Boohoo festival collection and styling them up a storm. If you’ve read our About page, you may know that we actually met at a festival in Oxford over 10 years ago (!!) and have been firm friends ever since, even though we were certainly not as well dressed. Festival fashion is a lot more exciting now. If only Boohoo were around back then!
For us, festival fashion is less about neon and feathers and more about being relaxed and comfortable come rain or shine, because if you are at a British festival, you are probably going to get quite a bit of the former! Denim hotpants are not really for us. We went for easy to wear smocks with billowing sleeves, with Jo choosing the beautiful Ari Embroidered Blousen Sleeve Dress, while I (Victoria) styled the cute Laura Embroidered Demin Smock. Worried about feeling chilly? Fret not, for layers are your friend. A colourful bomber like the Rebecca Printed Bomber, seen above, is an excellent option.
Don’t forget about accessories! Sungasses are great for tired (hungover) eyes, whereas flimsy footwear is a definite no. We find boots are great for walking around the festival site and are a stylish alternative to wellies. My blue beauties are from Boden and Jo’s tan lace up boots are from New Look. As twinning luck would have it, we also both chose rucksacks as our festival bags of choice. I picked up this white wonder from Accessorize last year and it’s proven to be a staple in my wardrobe, especially to take on weekends away. Jo’s gorgeous brown version from Aldo has unfortunately sold out, but there is a similar one here. Our glorious floral crowns are from Crown and Glory. Bubbles, fizzy pop and mega lolz are models own.
Over to you readers. What’s your festival fashion essential?
Hello and welcome to the 35th Accessories to Murder. This time, we’ve got a shoe special for you, featuring a cheeky La Redoute voucher code! Are you ready to delve into the world of amazing accessories? Excellent! Without further ado, here are the accessories that have made it onto this week’s She and Hem’s Most Wanted.
I do have a naughty habit of regularly including ASOS items on Accessories to Murder, but I just can’t help it because they always have such great items in their ‘New In‘ section. Always. It’s definitely the first place I look when I’m on the hunt for something and nine times out of ten, I find it! I could fill a whole post with ASOS shoes, but I’ve managed to pick my current top 3 and I am in love with them all equally. Which pair are your favourites?

I know what you are thinking, £7.50 is an incredible price for these cute cat pumps. WELL, do I have some good news for you. They currently have an extra 10% off when you enter the voucher code EXTRA10 at the checkout. The bad news is, they only have sizes 3.5 to 6 available. Although my own feet are only one size down from “Clown”, I know quite a few people who love cats and will fit into these smaller sizes (I’m looking at you Ellie and Gina) and if they don’t buy them I will be shocked and appalled and may have to reconsider our friendship. Meow!
If you are looking for a slightly more subtle pink than the ASOS pair above, put your best foot forward and take a look at these rounded toe tassel front beauties from New Look. I do love a good loafer! Also available in a jolly nice pale blue and a sensible black.
These pretty Patti flats *may* just be on their way to me right now. I can’t deny, if it’s yellow and from Boden, I just have to have it (evidenced here, here and everywhere!). They look so chic, comfy and the perfect colour for Summer. Expect to see them in an outfit post very soon!
In April you may remember we featured a couple of gorgeous dresses from Carousel, a brand we have become big fans of since we became aware of them last year. Luckily for us, they have just released a new collection which we are both completely smitten with. We wanted a really special background to shoot these pieces, so we braved the temperamental English weather, jumped into the She and Hem party bus, and zipped over to Tyntesfield in North Somerset and became one with the beautiful blooms. If you haven’t been to Tyntesfield and are ever in the area, do pop by!
I (Victoria) am completely in love with the Olivia Boat Dress. The colour is quite an unusual red/orange, but it’s absolutely stunning and is surprisingly versatile! I’ve not worn many full length sleeve dresses, but I’m definitely going to start, as this felt like such a nice alternative style. It’s possibly a little shorter than I would usually go for, but I feel that if I team it with flats or boots, I won’t scare too many people with my whiter than white legs! For this post I chose my current faves, the Keira Boots from Boden, which are currently half price. My sunglasses are these cat eye beauties from ASOS.
We are both obviously feeling shirt dresses at the moment. Jo’s dreamy Lucille Dress is a must purchase for any vintage fan. The 3/4 length sleeves and pleated skirt create such a flattering silhouette and would help take the dress from day to night time. The pattern is the sweetest and the colours really pop IRL! Pretty impressive right? Jo accessorised this floral number with tan boots from New Look (similar here) and went all matchy matchy with a ravishing red belt from ASOS and Moschino sunglasses combo from TK Maxx. See you for the next collection Carousel!
Any regular readers will know how much we love Emily and Fin, so when the lovely ladies at Aspire Style asked us if we wanted to feature their new Summer range, we jumped at the chance! Not only that but they have very kindly offered us and our readers a wonderful 10% discount for the site, using code SHEANDHEM at the checkout. Apologies to your bank balance in advance!
If you want to try before you buy (and are local to Warwick, Stratford upon Avon, Oxford, Solihull or Coventry) we would definitely recommend popping into an Aspire Style store, which is what we did when we had a lovely city break away in Oxford! They have so much great stuff, we promise you won’t be disappointed!
You can’t walk five minutes down the road in Bristol without finding an incredible mural or brightly coloured door, but we were particularly taken with this beach hut inspired green and white garage door. So much so that we heaped praise onto the owner when he popped out of his house to jump into his car. He was rather chuffed! We hope you’ll agree that it was the perfect match for our Seaside* and Cornish Harbour* print dresses. The Cornish Harbour print is so gorgeous and we love the Seaside print so much that we now both own it! Can we also quickly mention how much we appreciate that all Emily and Fin dresses have pockets! It’s an absolute winner.
I (Victoria) wore the Seaside dress, which features a brilliant beach scene complete with sunbathing ladies, in the Lucy shape. This shape is so flattering, comfortable and easy to wear. I accessorised with pink brogues from New Look (similar available here), matching pink sunglasses from Boden* and clear tights from UK Tights*. My vintage radio bag is from Accessorize, although unfortunately it’s currently out of stock online. Jo decided to pick up the lovely shades of pink and blue in her colourful Cornish harbour and accessorised with pink sunglasses from Amazon, an ice cream bag from Skinny Dip (also out of stock but they always have winning novelty bags so don’t be too glum), a pink Boden belt* and baby blue brogues from M&S (similar available here). Not quite ready to brave a bare leg, white tights from UK Tights* were the order of the day.
Huge thanks to Aspire Style for inviting us to style these beautiful frocks! Which is your fave? Let us know if you pick anything up and don’t forget to use the discount code SHEANDHEM ….
Hello and welcome to the 29th Accessories to Murder! Are you ready to delve into the world of amazing accessories? Excellent. Before we crack on, just a heads up, this particular Accessories to Murder contains a sponsored link but please be assured we only feature the accessories we consider tip top! Without further ado, here are the accessories that have made it onto this week’s She and Hem’s Most Wanted.
Does anyone miss the BBC test card? I know I do! How exciting was it when you stayed up so late that the little girl and her weird clown doll, Bubbles, popped up. She was my only best friend. I never did find out who won the game of noughts and crosses, but now this test card inspired swimming costume has come into my life, I feel like it doesn’t really matter.
I just can’t get enough of the swimmers print from Laura Ashley, and already own several of the fabulous novelty print pieces (evidence), but I hadn’t spotted this cute scarf. It’s just been reduced, so there really is no excuse not to dive right in! I’m tempted to start a campaign to get this print on a bikini. Why has no one done that yet!?
I blooming love brogues, so my little suede heart jumped for joy when I stumbled across these silver beauties from Jones Bootmaker. Some people shy away from wearing metallics during the day, but I am all over that trend, as I find silver shoes are such an easy way to make an outfit pop!
What hearts of gold those chaps at People Tree have creating this beautiful bag for us. You may not be able to fit all of your worldly belongings in this handmade clutch, but it’s so pretty it doesn’t really matter! Pretty > practical, am I right? Yes. If you don’t agree, you should probably head to The North Face blog. Meow.
The recent Tatty Devine swapshop reminded me just how incredible the brand is. I’m lucky enough to have quite a few of their jazzy pieces, and I regularly buy their items as presents for friends due to their unique and fun designs. This colourful geometric statement necklace has gone straight to the top of my Tatty Wish List. It’s very much hip be square.
Would you just look at these cute pink cat’s eye sunglasses! And no, the price is not an optical illusion, they really are £15.99. I’m always forgetting my sunglasses on a sunny day and making a right spectacle of myself, so I’m super tempted to invest in a pair. I just can’t take my eyes off of them.
The fruit clutch market is berry competitive right now, with each bag throwing fruit punches to be in the limelight. There’s strong competition, but this yellow and sparkly pineapple clutch really is the most a-peeling of a tasty bunch. Truly, it’s the apple of my eye!

Tired of wearing your heart on your sleeve? Well, wear it on your feet instead with these ASOS heart flats. Just in time for your Valentine’s Day outfit too! I’m thinking full on hearts this year, so these loooverly shoes are the perfect finishing touch to my hella twee look. Simple but just quirky enough to make it through the tough Accessories to Murder selection process.
If those flats aren’t quite right for you, here’s another adorable option. This cute pair in ‘Poppy Red’ from Boden are blooming beautiful. We recently featured them on our Instagram and they got oh so much love. They have a pretty bow detail and are flat enough for the walk home after you’ve been wined and dined on Valentine’s Day…or for my walk to kitchen to get just one last biscuit.
I hadn’t really considered Modcloth when buying swimwear until about a year ago, when I spotted one of their incredible swimsuits online. I added this to my Pinterest ‘Wish List‘, causing a internet sensation mild murmuring, and the cossie to be repinned here, there and everywhere! I’ve kept a keen eye on their swimwear ever since, and it is always fun, flattering and fabulous. This swimsuit from Modcloth features cute cats and cupcakes floating around in space. Cats. In. Space. What else could you possibly want?
I am a huge fan of all things Skinnydip, so I was pretty hyped when Jo sent me a link to this beauty. I predict the sales of this Skinnydip cactus bag, and matching luggage tag, are due to spike sometime soon, so hurry up and get your hands on this super succulent! Don’t put your hands on a real cactus, that would hurt and leave you feeling awful prickly.
This gorgeous Betsey Johnson bag might just be my perfect Valentine’s present right here. Can someone please point it in the direction of my husband? I’ve become quite the Betsey Johnson fan after featuring the incredible working phone in the recent January Sales post. I had so many messages from readers who loved the phone bag, hopefully this one will be just as popular. You may not be able to make calls with it, but it does have a really sparkly bow, so y’know, every cloud.
Yes, I know this is slightly more expensive than our usual Most Wanted novelty bags, but I’ve found it here via Nordstrom for much less than if buying direct from the Kate Spade website. How kind am I? Kate Spade has always been a high flyer in the world of whimsical clutch design, and my love for this kite bag is going up, up and away!
I really recommend that everyone has at least one staple yellow handbag in their wardrobe. I use my yellow Boden Westminster handbag every single day and I absolutely love the pop of colour it adds to any outfit. New Look have just released this tote, their very own sunshiny dream, for a very affordable £24.99!
Stacked pancake socks.Sometimes, a picture really does say a thousand words. So instead of raving about these, I shall just give you my top stock sock tip. If I was going for the famous ‘3 for £8’ Topshop sock deal, I would also pick the Coffee and Donuts and I Loaf You pairs. Why? Because they are awesome.
We’ve already blogged (and vlogged!) about our time at the beautiful Bristol Balloon Fiesta but with a back drop like that it would have been unacceptable blogger behavior not to have taken some outfit photos whilst we were there! As luck would have it, the lovely Emily and Fin kindly sent us a few pieces from their stunning new Autumn Winter collection to style and we couldn’t resist taking them for a spin.
The new collection features so many beautiful new prints and shapes but we were both equally blown away by the vibrant colours of the Painted City Circus print. It’s so much fun with skyscrapers, bridges, Big Ben and the Statue of Liberty all jostling for position! I (Jo) went for the print in the Ruby dress* which is a longer style and features a scooped neckline, fitted waist and a super flattering box pleated full skirt. I accessorised with a simple yellow belt, yellow Orla Kiely for Clarks shoes (have you seen the new collection? our bank balances are already terrified) and my go-to red heart sunglasses.
Victoria opted for the Florence skirt* which has an incredibly lovely curved waistband which really makes it sit nicely. As a couple of dress fans, it has totally converted us! She teamed it with the yellow polka-dot Edna top*, which is the perfect match for this print, nude sandals from New Look and round ASOS sunglasses. One of our favourite things about Emily and Fin is that they always do a good pocket and the new collection is no exception! We can also confirm that both styles are perfect for twirling in.
A big thank you to Emily and Fin for sending us these stunning outfits. We really can’t decide if we prefer the dress or the skirt! What do you think?
We loved shooting our last Sugarhill Boutique post so much, we’ve decided to do another one and woah, what a scorcher it was too. The sunny climate called for up do’s, a trip to the local park, and matching heart sunglasses. What a blooming brilliant way to spend a Saturday morning! As you might be able to tell we both fell for the 1960’s style polkadot print from their new Autumn/Winter collection and couldn’t resist signing on the dotted line and styling it two ways. Both the Hayley Spot Jacquard Skirt* and the Dahlia Spot Dress* are super fun, whilst being so easy to wear, which are both big requirements for any item in the She and Hem wardrobe.
I (Victoria) took a walk on the wild side and paired the spotty skirt with the rawrsome Bella Tiger Blouse*. With tons of floating tiger heads, gold buttons and a dropped back, it’s pretty freakin’ fierce and we ain’t lion! Jo’s dress is the star of the show with a super chic tunic shape and snazzy zip detail, it’s the perfect dress to take you from work to play.
Now for the big bows! I accessorised my outfit with a black ribbon, sunglasses from Primark, a floral headband from New Look, and white heeled ASOS shoes (similar here). Jo layered her dress over a Zara blouse and accessorised with a humongous black bow headband from Forever 21, TkMaxx sunglasses, a cat shaped Dahlia bag, and black VANDER point shoes from Topshop.
What do you think? Are you ready to think about Autumn?
Well hello there and welcome back to Double Thumbs Dresses! Just when you thought I’d forgotten about you, eh? As Cher Horowitz would say, AS IF! I am back with a new roundup of the dresses we have deemed worthy of the highly coveted Double Thumbs seal of approval…..
We begin with this bit of retro gorgeousness courtesy of the wonderful Boden, who continue to knock it out of the park season after season! That massive floral print is bloomin’ marvelous and who doesn’t love a cheeky little shift now and again?
Oh blimey, you should all know by now that the way to my clothes-loving heart is with a hot air balloon so naturally I was all over this Oliver Bonas frock when I spotted it in store! As well as the balloons this dress features adorable hand drawn images of famous landmarks from London, Paris and Pisa. It’s so pretty and perfect for Summer.
I love love love the colours of this chic little Warehouse dress! It’s just so darn bright and the 70s style and print are totally fab! I usually worry about a high neck but actually I think this dress would be super flattering.
This ship shape dress from Cutie (available from New Look and Modcloth) is really floating my boat! The tugboat illustrations are just lovely and make this simple dress so delightfully playful.
I wasn’t initially sure about the whole denim dress trend but thanks to seeing a lot of other bloggers looks fabulous in them I now find myself coveting this little beauty from Marks and Spencer. It just looks so nice! and so easy to wear! and I want one!
The new in section of F&F is a triumph at the moment, it really is. They’ve gone a bit 60s & 70s inspired dresses crazy and I for one am LOVING IT. This poppy print shirt dress is my pick of the bunch thanks to those dreamy sleeves.
I’ve also really been loving River Island of late and this neat little paisley print shirt dress is a fine example of why. The colours are just dreamy with the yellows, pinks, and browns all complimenting each other perfectly. Worn with the collar open and the sleeves rolled up, you my friend would be hot to trot.
Wimbledon might be over but surely strawberries and cream never truly goes out of style! I think this fruity number from Oasis looks good enough to eat and I am eyeing up ready for my sunny summer holiday next month!
