Hello and welcome to the 29th Accessories to Murder! Are you ready to delve into the world of amazing accessories? Excellent. Before we crack on, just a heads up, this particular Accessories to Murder contains a sponsored link but please be assured we only feature the accessories we consider tip top! Without further ado, here are the accessories that have made it onto this week’s She and Hem’s Most Wanted.

Accessories to Murder #29 | She and Hem | ASOS Swimming costume
Seafolly Band Wave Stripe Swinsuit | Was £99 Now £45 | ASOS

Does anyone miss the BBC test card? I know I do! How exciting was it when you stayed up so late that the little girl and her weird clown doll, Bubbles, popped up. She was my only best friend. I never did find out who won the game of noughts and crosses, but now this test card inspired swimming costume has come into my life, I feel like it doesn’t really matter.

Accessories to Murder #29 | She and Hem | Laura Ashley Scarf
Swimmers Scarf | Was £30 Now £21 | Laura Ashley

I just can’t get enough of the swimmers print from Laura Ashley, and already own several of the fabulous novelty print pieces (evidence), but I hadn’t spotted this cute scarf. It’s just been reduced, so there really is no excuse not to dive right in! I’m tempted to start a campaign to get this print on a bikini. Why has no one done that yet!?

Accessories to Murder #29 | She and Hem | Jones Bootmaker
Silver Giselle Brogues | Was £98 Now £78 | Jones Bootmaker

I blooming love brogues, so my little suede heart jumped for joy when I stumbled across these silver beauties from Jones Bootmaker. Some people shy away from wearing metallics during the day, but I am all over that trend, as I find silver shoes are such an easy way to make an outfit pop!

Accessories to Murder #29 | She and Hem | People Tree Purse
Heart Mini Clutch | £32 | People Tree

What hearts of gold those chaps at People Tree have creating this beautiful bag for us. You may not be able to fit all of your worldly belongings in this handmade clutch, but it’s so pretty it doesn’t really matter! Pretty > practical, am I right? Yes. If you don’t agree, you should probably head to The North Face blog. Meow.

Accessories to Murder #29 | She and Hem | Tatty Devine
Geometric Link Necklace | £85 | Tatty Devine

The recent Tatty Devine swapshop reminded me just how incredible the brand is. I’m lucky enough to have quite a few of their jazzy pieces, and I regularly buy their items as presents for friends due to their unique and fun designs. This colourful geometric statement necklace has gone straight to the top of my Tatty Wish List. It’s very much hip be square.

Accessories to Murder #29 | She and Hem | Zara Sunglasses
Pink Sunglasses | £15.99 | Zara

Would you just look at these cute pink cat’s eye sunglasses! And no, the price is not an optical illusion, they really are £15.99. I’m always forgetting my sunglasses on a sunny day and making a right spectacle of myself, so I’m super tempted to invest in a pair. I just can’t take my eyes off of them.

Accessories to Murder #29 | She and Hem | Pineapple Bag
Yellow Embellished Pineapple Clutch | £19.99 | New Look

The fruit clutch market is berry competitive right now, with each bag throwing fruit punches to be in the limelight. There’s strong competition, but this yellow and sparkly pineapple clutch really is the most a-peeling of a tasty bunch. Truly, it’s the apple of my eye!

Until next week, keep accessorizing!

Double Thumbs Dresses #77

Hello hello! Welcome back to Double Thumbs Dresses, our roundup of the frocks we have deemed worthy of the highly coveted double thumbs seal of approval! Let’s crack on….

Aida Zak Sandra Boat Print Dress £38.50 from Collectif
Aida Zak Sandra Boat Print Dress £58.50 from Collectif

First up I am loving the boat-iful dress from Collectif! It’s a pretty fabulous print and I love the style of the dress with a delightful full skirt, sweetheart neckline and, praise be, pockets! Race you to the seaside!

Multicoloured Tile Print Sundress £22.00 from TU at Sainsburys
Multicoloured Tile Print Sundress £22.00 from Tu at Sainsburys

Is it Tu late now to say sorry? To my bank balance, that is. I have complained in the past about how Sainsburys didn’t allow you to order clothes on their website but now that they have rectified the situation I am facing some serious financial issues. ALL THE PRETTY.

V Neck PLeated Tiered Dress £60.00 from Oasis
V Neck PLeated Tiered Dress £60.00 from Oasis

Three tiers for this Oasis dress! Hip hip hooray…etc. I mean, you might need to buy your friends some sunglasses for when you wear it but by golly what a frock! It’s so so bright and so so awesome.

Zandra Rhodes Lipstick Asymmetrical Dress in Pink £85 from People Tree
Zandra Rhodes Lipstick Asymmetrical Dress in Pink £85 from People Tree

I appreciate that you might have to take my word for it but this People Tree dress has the most fabulous lipstick print (go hover over the images on their website!). It’s super cute and I really like that, for a novelty print dress, it’s quite a sensible style.

Raddery Sailing Print Dress £59.50 from Jack Wills
Raddery Sailing Print Dress £59.50 from Jack Wills

Those of you with a good memory for dresses (hi) might well remember that Jack Wills brought out an incredibly similar print to this last year. I know this, because I bought said dress and wore it to death (here’s the proof)! JW must have decided that if the nautical print dress aint broke, don’t fix it! I’m so blatantly going to end up buying this one too.

Lusara A-Z Ditzy Floral Dress £179 by Ted Baker at John Lewis
Lusara A-Z Ditzy Floral Dress £179 by Ted Baker at John Lewis

So here’s a story from A to Z! How fab is this Ted Baker print? It’s sort of bonkers, with a mix of giant letters and a floral print, but it just works. Although I do wish the J (the best of the letters) was more prominent.

Graphic Print Mini Wiggle Dress £45.00 from ASOS
Graphic Print Mini Wiggle Dress £45.00 from ASOS

Last but not least is this super snazzy graphic print dress from a small independent company you might have heard of called ASOS. I think they’ll go far.

Double Thumbs Dresses #49

Hello dress fans! It’s time once again to take a gander at the frocks we have deemed worthy of the highly coveted Double Thumbs seal of approval! There’s plenty of new arrivals happening at the moment so I have been slightly spoiled for choice! Let’s crack on…

Balloon Fit and Flare Shirtdress £410 from Kate Spade
Balloon Fit and Flare Shirtdress £410 from Kate Spade

Hot air balloon prints are basically my thing (our first ever post was about balloon prints fact fans!) so when I noticed that Kate Spade has brought out an entire collection of balloon inspired wears my credit card spontaneously combust out of fear. I mean, just look at this bag! It’s all so perfect. Now, I wouldn’t normally include something so high end on a Double Thumbs roundup but this list is supposed to reflect the dresses that I am lusting over and oh boy do I want to float around the world in this vintage inspired shirt dress. Get in my (wicker) basket, etc etc.

Clouds Cotton Dress With Shirred Waist £60 from Cath Kidston
Clouds Cotton Dress With Shirred Waist £60 from Cath Kidston

But hey, the sky is still obtainable even without my balloon thanks to Cath Kidston and their gorgeous new cloud print. This is possibly one of my favourites ever of theirs thanks to that beautiful shade of blue. It’s such a fresh print and, as always, the perfect shape too.

Ric Rac Cotton Dress With Raglan Sleeve £50 from Cath Kidston
Ric Rac Cotton Dress With Raglan Sleeve £50 from Cath Kidston

Hot on it’s heels at the top of my CK wishlist is this fab Ric Rac print dress. How fab are those colours? So bright and fun! It reminds me of a maypole and makes me want to go to country fetes and wear a straw boater. I basically just need this dress.

Beatrice Dress £89 from Boden
Beatrice Dress £89 from Boden

Boden have also brought out some absolutely cracking dresses this season because it would appear nobody wants me to have any money anymore. Cheers, guys. Anyhoo, this fruity frock has pipped the others to the post as my favourite and is most definitely the apple of my eye (sorry). I really love the orange and the pink print but it does also come in blue too if that hue just isn’t for you.

Lottie Dress £55 from Seasalt Cornwall
Lottie Dress £55 from Seasalt Cornwall

This lovely floral midi dress from Seasalt has been styled on a vintage tea dress. It’s ever so pretty and I love the print and all the button detailing.

Isobel dress Yours Truly £76 from Emily and Fin
Isobel dress Yours Truly £76 from Emily and Fin

We have actually featured this gorgeous envelope print from Emily and Fin before when they originally debuted it in navy blue last year. It is now back in a fresh new colour for 2015 and would make the perfect Valentine’s frock. Who needs a card when you’ve got 450 beautiful envelopes, eh?

Wallflower Sleeveless Dress £85 from Orla Kiely for People Tree
Wallflower Sleeveless Dress £85 from Orla Kiely for People Tree

I also fall in love with the Orla Kiely for People Tree collections and this season is no exception. For Spring this year they have gone classic Orla with retro 50s inspired pieces in beautiful shades of pink, grey and green. I think this sleeveless number is my current front runner.

50s Style Dress in Bright Pink Spot £74.95 from Joules
50s Style Dress in Bright Pink Spot £74.95 from Joules

We finish off in true twirly style with this pink polka dot number from Joules. I do love a good floaty fock and this ticks all the right 50s boxes for me. Gorgeous!

Please pass on my apologies to your bank manager,

Double Thumbs Dresses #46

Hello dress fans!

Welcome back to Double Thumbs Dresses, our selection of the top frocks on the block and, according to Rife Magazine, “the ultimate round-up of dresses to die for.” You can’t say fairer than that!

Double Thumbs Dresses | Hartland Dress in Porridge Squirrel £79
Hartland Dress in Porridge Squirrel £79 from Boden

We begin by going slightly nuts over this squirrel print dress from Boden. Oh, where to start with how perfect it is? Could it be that super flattering shape? Or the lovely long sleeves? Or perhaps it’s those front pockets? Or, just maybe, it’s all of the above plus the fact it’s COVERED IN SQUIRRELS (I mean it’s that one, obviously). Personally, I am rather partial to this ‘porridge’ colour scheme but there are two other options available, delightfully dubbed ‘navy squirrel’ and ‘faded fatigue squirrel’. I feel bad for not realising squirrels could get fatigued.

Double Thumbs Dresses | Squirrel Dress £55
Squirrel Dress £55 from There’s Only One Amy Laws

I hope you’ve, errrm, squirreled some money away as the cute critters are slowly taking over Double Thumbs! Just LOOK HOW CUTE THEY ARE! Amy Laws has done it again with this perfect print set against the most gorgeous full skirted emerald green frock.

Laura-May Dress £60 by Look Magazine for Little Mistress
Laura-May Dress £60 by Look Magazine for Little Mistress

Right, enough with the a-corny jokes. It’s time to get down to serious partaaay dress buisness courtesy of this little stonker from Little Mistress. Just look how super shiny it is! And the dogtooth herringbone print is a lovely touch too.

Double Thumbs Dresses | Off Shoulder Jewel Jacquard Bardot Prom Dress £85
Off Shoulder Jewel Jacquard Bardot Prom Dress £85 from ASOS

Sticking with the sparkles, how about this glitzy ASOS dress? I am still loving their off the shoulder bardot style frocks and the heavyweight jacquard material looks simply stunning. The whole look is set off by some pretty substantial looking jewel detailing, making it the *whispers* perfect Christmas party frock!

Double Thumbs Dresses | Juliette Cat Dress £90
Juliette Cat Dress £90 from People Tree at John Lewis

Meowsers tousers, I am really digging this cat print dress from People Tree! The teal colour is fab and I am really feline the size and simplicity of those sitting white kitties! Puuurfect.

Double Thumbs Dresses | Katnis £49.99
Katnis £49.99 from Voodoo Vixen

It’s raining cats and even more cats in this outrageously fun frock from Voodoo Vixen! The colour is wonderful and the black looks absolutely sublime against it! The scallop detailing on the neckline and pockets is the stuff my dress dreams are made of.

Double Thumbs Dresses | Susie Meow £49.95
Susie Meow £49.95 from Voodoo Vixen

And the Voodoo Vixen fun doesn’t stop there as they have also brought out the most perfect winter dress! Behold this vintage inspired wool frock which has the most marvelous butterfly collar. What a triumph!

Double Thumbs Dresses | Folk Bear Skater £55
Folk Bear Skater £55 from Sugarhill Boutique

Last but not least is this lovely folk bear print dress from Sugarhill Boutique. I can bear-ly contain my excitement for that super flattering square neckline! The stellar combination of those sleeves, that shape and the cuteness of the print makes this dress a bare wardrobe necessity!

Double Thumbs Dresses #44

Cream Cupcake Print Hepburn Dress £50
Cream Cupcake Print Hepburn Dress £50 from Lady Vintage

….because OH MY. This has definitely got to be up there with one of the best ever Double Thumbs Dresses. It is the cake covered dress of my dreams. Sadly it would appear I am not the only one obsessed with this print as Lady Vintage are currently running perilously low on them. Fingers crossed more stock appears soon.

Brushed Prom Skater Dress In Donut Embroidery £65
Brushed Prom Skater Dress In Donut Embroidery £65 from Nishe at ASOS

Who needs cake though when Nishe have come to the rescue with a doughnut embroidered dress. I mean, seriously, it’s like the Internet doesn’t want me to have any money. This dress is ridiculous and I need it. Mmmmm doughnuts.

Jersey Sweetheart Skater Dress With Balloon Embroidery £48
Jersey Sweetheart Skater Dress With Balloon Embroidery £48 from Nishe at ASOS

If food based frocks aren’t your thing then don’t feel too deflated, the new Nishe collection continues to deliver with a balloon dress! It’s so pretty and will surely raise your spirits.

Townhouses Raglan Cap Sleeve Jacquard Dress £70
Townhouses Raglan Cap Sleeve Jacquard Dress £70 from Cath Kidston

This Cath Kidston beauty caused quite a stir at their press day waaaay back in July. It has now finally arrived online and in store and oh boy has it been worth the wait. The Townhouses print is simply gorgeous and, as ever, I adore this dress shape. No window shopping necessary as I’ll be moving in on this one.

Deer Amongst the Flowers Dress £40
Deer Amongst the Flowers Dress £40 from Yumi

It would be fair to say that I’ve been fawning over this Yumi dress. The delightful deer print is one thing but I sure do go doe eyed for a good collar!

Sweatshirt Dress in Puppy Love Print £149
Sweatshirt Dress in Puppy Love Print £149 from Orla Kiely at ASOS

You’d be barking mad not to love this super cute puppy print dress from Orla Kiely. It’s such a fun dress and a great piece to take you through Autumn/Winter. I really love the sweatshirt style and those raglan sleeves are just perfect.

Karen Horse Print Flared Dress £110 from People Tree
Karen Horse Print Flared Dress £110 from People Tree

More animals, this time in the shape of horses from People Tree. I adore the flared shape and elbow length sleeves but really it’s the colours that have got my horse heart racing. I just love the pop of yellow against the grey and black. Dreamy. I wouldn’t bet against this one appearing in my wardrobe.

Sharpen Dress £55
Sharpen Dress £55 from White Stuff at House of Fraser

You can sharpen up your style with this pencil print dress from White Stuff! It’s definitely a perfect work dress and would look fab with a blazer thrown over it. I can’t help but feel they’ve missed a trick in not making a pencil skirt but, hey ho, I’ve got dibs on those nibs!

Fit & Flare Sleeveless Shift Dress £45
Fit & Flare Sleeveless Shift Dress £45 from Limited Edition at Marks and Spencer

At first glance this might not appear an obvious choice for Double Thumbs but I have been searching for the perfect dress to layer over my ever growing collection of jazzy (yes jazzy) shirts and blouses. This nude M&S frock fits the bill perfectly and has the added bonus of massive pockets. You can see it styled over a pretty blouse here.

Hem and Away : Brighton

Hem and Away : Brighton
Train, Safari and Stop Thief! dresses all from Cath Kidston

During the Summer holidays (ah, remember those?) we managed to get away for a few days of quality girl time in good ol’ Brighton. It turned out to be exactly what the three of us needed and we spent a fine few days being blown around the beach, winning back our two pence pieces on the pier and getting joyously lost in the shops of The Lanes. We also ate a lot of top notch food.

Hem and Away : BrightonHem and Away : BrightonHem and Away : BrightonHem and Away: BrightonHem and Away : Brighton

We struggled initially to find a room that a) didn’t cost a fortune and b) would sleep three adults but eventually stumbled across the Five Hotel. It fit the bill perfectly and came with the triple bonus of having a sea view, an OC box set to watch and a breakfast hamper delivered to our room every morning! What a find!

As you can see, we were pretty cheerfully dressed for our mini holiday and we like to think Brighton appreciated the effort. Despite having not spoken about outfits beforehand we all managed to wear a lot of Cath Kidston. So much so in fact that we were too embarrassed to go in the shop. What can I say, we like to co-ordinate.

It really was a wonderful time and we are already planning a repeat girly trip away for next year! Any suggestions?

Oh and as we indulged in so much fantastic food and drink I shall leave you with our own little list of recommendations!

Double Thumbs Dresses #29

Hello one and all and welcome back to your weekly (ahem) roundup of the dresses we have deemed worthy of the highly coveted Double Thumbs seal of approval. You might have noticed that we skipped a week last week so, by way of an apology, I have made this one slightly longer. I know, I really do spoil you.

Shirt Dress in Multi £90 from Orla Kiely for People Tree
Shirt Dress in Multi £90 from Orla Kiely for People Tree
Monochrome Tea Dress £110 from Orla Kiely People Tree
Monochrome Tea Dress £110 from Orla Kiely People Tree
Collar Dress in Pink £85 from Orla Kiely for People Tree
Collar Dress in Pink £85 from Orla Kiely for People Tree
Evette Dress in Green Balloon Print £65 from People Tree
Evette Dress in Green Balloon Print £65 from People Tree

Right, so, this is a little unprecedented but first up we have FOUR dresses from the rather brilliant, People Tree. The first three form part of their ongoing collaboration with Orla Kiely, who I know we have been relentlessly banging on about recently but I can’t help it if she keeps bringing the pretty to the party. This new collaboration features three dancing girl silhouette prints and they are all so SO great. I really couldn’t choose just one so I’ve had to go with three but I could easily have chosen more. Yikes. And just when I thought I was safe I spied the balloon print dress and practically combusted at my computer. What the heck, People Tree? Are you deliberately trying to bankrupt me?

Grace Dress in Floats print £148.40

Oh good, more reasons to spend all my money! The new Poppy collection landed this week and as usual it’s perfect. This time they have embraced bright bold colours as their characters, Poppy and Fred, take Mr Giraffe to the seaside. I don’t know what party balloons have got to do with giraffes at the seaside but if the result is always this pretty, I’m on board. No, I’m not drunk. Continue reading Double Thumbs Dresses #29

Double Thumbs Dresses #26

Howdy dress fans! Can you believe how fast the weeks are going at the moment? I can barely keep up! In fact, I’m actually still thinking about that Lucky Cat dress from last week. But, whatever, it’s totally time to move on and take a gander at this week’s selection of dresses deemed oh-so-worthy of the highly coveted Double Thumbs seal of approval. It’s a good job I’ve just been paid as this selection is not particularly budget friendly.

Strawberry Fields Sash Dress £65 by Great Plains

First up is this berry nice dress from Great Plains. It’s a lovely length, so perfect for wearing to work, and it ticks the very important sleeves and pockets boxes. It has a lovely big sash to nip your waist in, which is flattering but also means you can have a nice big fun bow. Woo! I’ve gone for the traditional red strawberry but if you’re a fruity renegade, it also comes in yellow.

MAE CAT PRINT FLARED DRESS IN BLACK
Mae Cat Dress in Black £85 from People Tree
Elizabeth Dress in Bow Print £78 from People Tree
Elizabeth Dress in Bow Print £78 from People Tree

People Tree have done the double this week with two fabulous dresses. I think we’ve established that I like anything with a cat on so it’s no surprise that the vintage style Mae Cat dress floats my boat. I love the colours and the fact that People Tree have nailed the evil glare cats give you when you’ve disturbed their day. It’s also a fab fit and flare shape with a tie belt and pockets.

Next up is the pretty bow print dress. I’m not usually one for predominantly black dresses but this one really appeals to me. The sleeves are simply divine and the shape is another vintage inspired affair. It looks a little Blair Waldorf to me, which is perhaps why I want it so much.

Right as rain dress £135 from Nadinoo
Right as rain dress £135 from Nadinoo

I have no idea how I stumbled across Nadinoo (I’m inclined to blame Pinterest) but oh my what a pretty label this is. I’m pretty obsessed with their about page which describes their style as whimsical and enchanting whilst each piece is designed ‘for three fictional characters Pixie, Fleur and Lula’. My favourite is this ladder print dress which has one of the most whopping great bows I’ve ever seen. Gorgeous. Continue reading Double Thumbs Dresses #26
